American movie box-office receipts tanked when Trump became president. Suddenly, worldwide box office soared.
Coincidentally, Black Panther became the largest box office movie in history. With most of the sales generated from worldwide release. I don't for a second believe that the entire world was going to see Black Panther.
Trump was way more entertaining than anything in the theater. Still is.
Especially China.

I was referring to the new Amazon "interpretation" called The Rings of Power.
They have butchered Tolkien's story by injecting their woke agenda into the narrative and veering completely away from the source material.
I'm reminded of the film The Producers where the plotline was to create the worst theatre play in the history of mankind in order to pocket the funding when the project intentionally fails.
Some of these projects are so blatantly bad that no studio or investor with any sense of finance should back them. Money talks, and get woke go broke is hardly a new concept. The only way these projects continue to see funding is either through a money laundering scheme, or direct government funding.
Money laundering and propaganda, just like the "music" industry. You want actual talent ? Go look for it on crowdfunding places like Indiegogo,Kickstarter and such. The big bucks from the younger audiences have been switching to video games for at least the last decade.
The propaganda is beyond obtuse
Yep I've suspected that most of the shows are in fact funded by the government. I think they offer incentives for including various propaganda that they themselves don't fully understand but hey if I got tons of money for making a joke including climate change then I will do it. Ratings don't matter because I have a safety cushion. People will laugh with the laugh track anyway.
What are the tax breaks and tax write off like in the US?
In Australia, the tax breaks and tax write off were huge and possibly still are. In some cases, investors could get a 150% tax write off.
With a bit of "creative accounting",investors virtually had/have a licence to print money at the expense of other tax payers that don't have the opportunity to invest in projects like the film industry.
It can be literally a "Gold Rush".
Depending on the location, they can be pretty darn generous and advantageous for the production studios. Two good examples that come to mind would be Louisiana and Georgia - both states offer generous tax breaks to production studios that film in those states, under the guise of "bringing in business". That said, with Georgia and Florida both standing up for themselves and no longer allowing Hollywood studios to swing their dicks around regarding state politics, it'll be interesting to see how the studios respond.*
*I still give the Hollywood film industry a decade at best to live. They were already on fire and now going into freefall.
Thanks for that info,fren.
The entertainment industry can be a great way for the Elites to launder money.
It's a Gundam!
*sweet guitar riff*
Star wars died with Episode 7. Star Trek died with the Picard series, though some say with that new Trilogy. DC had two gems: Wonder Woman and THE Suicide Squad. Marvel died with End Game, with one recent gem in No Way Home.
I find it very unlikely they're deliberately tanking huge money making franchises just to launder money. I think its far more likely the CEOs of these media megacorps are trying the leftward surge of pushing THE MESSAGE because they're being told to under threat.
I pretty much agree, but I do think the new Star Trek movies with Chris Pine had some originality. DC always had Batman, but it has bounced from Tim Burton (+) to Joel Schumacher (--) to Christopher Nolan (++). Marvel wiped out the Avengers, which was a monumental denouement. I will probably continue to follow Doctor Strange, if only because Benedict Cumberbatch has perfectly captured the character (one of my long time comic book faves). They may do okay with Spiderman (so many reboots...) and Ant Man.
The producers probably think they have a margin of leeway in "grooming" the audience to accept the Rainbow nonsense, so it will take a concerted rejection at the box office to give them hard numbers to show their masters. It remains to be seen whether the public revulsion against Disney will translate into a permanent box office drought.
Yeah I like the Pine ones for what they were, although I confess to not seeing the third one. Star Trek has always been naturally diverse so efforts to wokify it are hammy and obvious.
so I invest in one of thee stupid films to the tune of $10 mil. It goes over the roof, makes a bil. I get back, what? 50 mil, 100 mil? That certainly could be money laundering. And the Chinese are involved, don't forget. They need new ghost cities.
Last comment is on point re: B movies.
Crazy days and nights had some interesting info about Italian b movies in the 70s (giallo and spaghetti westerns)...
Snuff films in plain sight.
Double dipping, as always. Money laundering via publically available snuff films. Probably allowed the clientele to pay for the privilege of picking which women they'd use as "screen victims".
I'm convinced the porb industry operates that way now days.
