I was always in favor of going all nuclear for power. But the older I get, the more I see how fucking retarded people can be. We know how to properly use the technology, but all it takes is some malfeasance or incompetence and we got a serious worldwide problem on our hands. I'm starting to feel like we just aren't trustworthy enough to use this stuff...

When you put your national energy strategy in the hands of a psychologically unwell adolescent girl; well, you are pretty much begging to commit suicide. It's hard to feel sorry for a country that behaves so irresponsibly.
Then again, look who we have leading our country.
We're run by absolute lunatics, things will get really though over here. On one hand it's self inflicted, but people also have been programmed by the Siegermächte (victorious powers) after WW2 in an unimaginable way. Ie. in Germany you HAVE to pay for state-run television, they have budget of about 9 billion Euros per year to indoctrinate people (that would be about 40b USD in comparision). As sad as it is, but people have to feel the pain before they'll find the will to change.

My sincerest apologies if my callous statement was taken as being directed at the German people, for that was not my intent. I have no ill-will towards to the German people; however I must admit to a certain amount of disdain towards the leadership.
The same could be said about many countries, such as Canada, Australia and Mexico. The world if full of kind, hard working people; it's a shame that the leadership seems intent on exploiting their people, for personal gain.
And the USA is certainly not exempt, especially with our current leader.

How closed down were the plants and how long will it take to get them operational and generating output?
Anyone involved in such industries, the shutting down and opening back up parts especially, have any info to share?
When you de-commission a reactor, you essentially strip the "nuclear rating" on every pipe, valve, pump and monitoring system. When components are made, they are "Qualified" to certain specifications, which naturally drives their price up 3-10x; because of the certification testing.
Generally speaking, everything in those reactors is now de-certified, down to commercial levels, so everything will need to be individually re-certified, before that reactor can be brought back on line. It's almost faster/cheaper to reduce it to rubble, and start over.
That is the level of stupidity we are dealing with here. The certification process is the same for space and medical grade materials; so the stupidity is not the process and qualification - it's the LEADERSHIP that chose to decommission, instead of just taking it off line.
Let them eat it until their people string them up. It's obvious the fake narrative of operating on green power they will have to expose now.
Stupidity has to be exposed and their false solutions too.
