Not necessarily, if the shot was instant death the heart is not beating, that's why when you kill game animals you have to let gravity drain the blood out of the body.

You could bleed too death internally, so there's several possibilities that we could go and on. My point was based on someone saying there was no blood on the ground so I was just giving other possibilities other than a fake death.
