Man, if this could only pass....
Here's my problem with it. Republicans always try to pass legislation when they know good and damn well it will NEVER pass. Why not wait until they have complete control of the House and Senate to do this?
Make it a mid-term issue, absolutely, but don't try to bring this to the floor for a vote when you know it will die there. Then it will be "Oh well, we tried."
Putting it up for a vote now exposes those up for reelection in the Midterms.

Yeah, but then they NEVER bring it back up when they get into power. That is the problem. Let's see where half the RINOs stand when the vote ACTUALLY matters, instead of political grandstanding, knowing full well they can all vote for it, but it won't pass anyway.

They do this to make people think if we vote for them they’ll really go hard. Then after the election they say, we need to look forward not backwards so the nation can heal. Every. Single. Time.

I guess I'm just tired, and a wee bit jaded at this point. Yes, it would show how many Democrats are dirty, but it doesn't do anything meaningful. People aren't going to vote someone out now over this one issue. People's minds are made up already. It also doesn't tell the whole story. I mean Mitt Romney could vote for this, but we all know good and damn well he'd vote against it when it matters. This would provide RINOs like him political cover. That disgusts me.

The sole purpose these crooks get into politics is because they know that the REAL money and power is making the laws that decide the winners and losers in the so called free market society. That's why 80%+ are lawyers.

We could do that. We absolutely could. But tell me, did making theft, murder, assault, vandalism, or child abuse illegal stop any of those from happening?
Criminals do not care what the law says. If a member of congress cannot trade stocks, they'll get a family member to do it for them and accept large donations to their foundations.
Well right now it's legal for them to do insider trading. They need to make that illegal.
Will it stop it entirely? No.
But it allows someone to hold them to account for a crime if we ever have the opportunity to do so.
It didn't stop all of it but many people went to prison for those crimes. Would be better than what we have now.

First they need to see who else has and is ….. abusing the system,
Next make a list from the past five years of Republicans that made investments that would be considered cheating if it were done by non congress members. And make a five year list of democrats as well. Next thing to do is to show it to the voters and and run on it being considered cheating and abusing the system. Lastly, make it retroactive going back five years.
It’s easy to see that’s this is a conflict of interest… And if it’s not obvious to Pelosi, she is not smart enough to be a law maker…

Why is this even a thing in the first place? WHY does it continue to happen? WHY does Pelosi and her ilk continue to get away with something that should be banned in the first place? The people with the closest connections to everything going on behind the scenes should not be allowed to participate in market activity so long as they are in Congress. They already make a large salary, but on top of that they get to cheat and act on the market before everyone else? No wonder people got mad on Jan 6th!
I'd rather focus on getting rid of the NoName/Feingold act and creating term limits.
The fact that these people enrich themselves, is mostly because they've made a career of politics.
Either way, nothing is getting passed until after Nov. Why bother trying now? Seems like a publicity stunt.
I call BS on Nancy not knowing what stocks her husband has or is trading. Just a coincidence that this bill is before a Congress. Oh, no she never called and shared that tidbit with her husband. So recuse yourself from voting Nancy because there is a conflict.
How about you just take all their holdings and jail them when they get caught insider trading. A d every trade should be publicly noted. Reported nationwide for examination.
