Oh gee. This is tragic. The scary thing is, the son actually makes a pretty cute 'girl' and even the way he's smiling and holding the picture is feminine. I know not all trans are very convincing, I just hope we don't move into a phase where they become indistinguishable (fully clothed) because that would be a nightmare.
It'll never happen, look closely. Eye nose bridge ratio, chin shape, cheek length. The FTM is a very easy spot.

This specific FTM is a little tougher, she was originally pretty high androgen based on the original photo so her features translate better into male
Yes, I wasn't speaking of the FTM. She does not look like a man to me, just a very butch woman. But the teenage boy looks very feminine to me at this stage. However, he still has a lot of growing and filling out to do and will likely look quite different in a few years.
