This I really resent. I wanted to go to college for nursing but we couldnt afford it. Parents wouldnt co-sign loan. All my life I struggled with mundane jobs regretting I could not do the work I really wanted.
As time went on my daughter was able to get school loans and worked her way through and really appreciates her education. She paid off her school loans early.
Now I have to pay for someone else to go to college?
It’s never too late - I didn’t graduate with my BSN until I was 40. Time is going to go by anyway, so Go For It!!!
Same situation here. Got accepted into the university I wanted to attend, my dad made too much to get financial aid but not enough to cover it all (as it was a one income household). Tried to get a loan but couldn’t bc who lends money to an 18 year old with no credit and a minimum wage part time job. So I never went to college. Instead I busted my ass at a company for the last 10 years and finally got a position I love. I resent this SO much. What a slap in the face.
It is just another divide and conquer tactic. You're mad because your fellow countrymen stayed home, went to State run universities on Government grants, and now don't have to pay back the overpriced - jacked up university costs? Go back to complaining about all the gazillions being sent to the Ukraine where all the child trafficking is going on and stop complaining because someone else got a few scraps. Everyone is doing the best they can to survive. This puts people a year or two closer to purchasing their first home. It isn't a fucking Tesla in every driveway.
Lol do you think they just forgive the debt and then poof its gone just like that? Someone always pays for it.
Exactly, someone has to pay...be upset about that. The system. But I’m thankful if my son or other family members get their debt cleared. Yea they worked hard for scholarships. Yea they had state aid. And still got 20-30k in debt. It shouldn’t be that way. The most successful country in the world should have perks. Just as Trump said. I’m thankful for those who get this debt cleaned. The system that “somebody has to pay” is the problem. I feel people are directing their anger towards the persons. And not the problem.
the fed has printed billions and billions over the past few years. So what if a few bucks lands in someone else's pockets. everyone is trying to survive. They are trying to divide people. We didn't tell Biden to do this. Don't get mad at us. We're just doing the best we can. Stop being greedy for shekels.
Student debt forgiveness has been their (the dems) carrot and stick for generations. Infinitely more valuable as a tool to gain election support than something they actually want to fix. If they actually implement it this time then they've switched it to a "incase of emergency, break glass" type of policy because of shear desperation and fear.
My wife has a nice house worth of student debt. She should pay every damn cent of it. I have zero school debt - I served and got my GI Bill. Now I get taxed even MORE for these uneducated degree carrying free loaders. Awesome.
I never went to college, went straight to work at 17 when I graduated HS. I’ve never had money. Most time we barely make it. I even laugh at the poor folks who, after 20 yrs , still have better cars than me and my wife. Better toys. And actually go on these things called vacations. But, I built my own home, cause that’s what I do. I learned how to budget my money. Otherwise I’d be on the street. I told my kids of you ever want to go to college, you’ll have to find a way...I can’t even afford a “newer” car payment.
My son however spent 4 yrs in high school, trying to be the best trombone/baritone player he could be to get a scholarship to go to college for music. And succeeded. Then had to keep a high gpa to keep that scholarship, with two majors, and made the deans list all 4 yrs. He worked his but off for 8 yrs, and still ended up 20k in debt after it was all said and done. Even with state aid. I tried to help financially all I could. I bought him a gas saver before he set off to college. Nothing to much. It was a 12 yr old Prius. Like 8k. It took half of all my savings to buy it. It was the best I could do.
And now I hear that his debt could be wiped clean. I know it doesn’t make sense, esp with the way inflation is currently. And of course all the wasted billions going over seas. But I’m thankful. I hope his debt gets wiped clean. He’s earned it. The same goes for my nephew. Very similar story. He’s worked his butt off for 8-9 yrs, and is about 30k in debt after scholarship and state aid. I remember Trump talking about this a few yrs ago. In America, the most successful country in the world. We shouldn’t even have to pay to go to college. We should t have to pay for a lot of things. Being number one should have perks. But instead we shackle ourselves, and esp our college bound youth immediately upon graduation. And we’re happy about that? I say AWESOME to any young person, like my son and nephew who gets this debt cleared. You’ve earned it.
Now, I know debt never gets cleared. Somebody has to pay. Be upset about that. Be upset about sending endless money to our enemies. But I’m not about to harp on young folks who worked their tails off to get a break. Good for them. We shouldn’t be paying for education anyways.
Edit. Notice my save smashed all my text together. Don’t know why it does that.
The core of Marxism; "From each according to their ability, to each according to their need" Clearly, the ones that paid off their student debt have shown themselves to be able. Those that have not have shown themselves to be in need. This philosophy can be applied anyway they wish,.
Straight from the communist manifesto:
Free = paid for by government (taxes) = curriculum influenced and/or controlled by the government.
Subsidizing education is the government's mechanism to perform thought control and brainwashing on the masses.
Public education and education subsidization in any form should be eliminated.
I have student loans...Dont regret them for a minute. I got an engineering degree, and my first year of work , my yearly income was more than my total amount of loans. Return on investment big time.
