Interesting. There are American words to the same tune ("My Country 'tis of the sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing..."), but ... Yeah, not the best choice.

We Brits share a few tunes with our American cousins. Another one is "Maryland, My Maryland" sung to the tune of the anthem of the British Labour (i.e.Socialist) Party: "The Red Flag."

It's the melody. God save the Queen (the british anthem) is the same melody as My country tis of thee (also known as the "unofficial" national anthem.) The "unofficial" anthem and the British national anthem, that can't be coincidence.

Odd, I just now got to see that ending part of that speech and the "God Save the Queen" music... yeah, I know it's also "My Country 'Tis of Thee" in the US. But just watch Biden and Jill doddering around trying to look important, Joe with that dementia gait of his... it's just bizarre.
Well, watching beyond that 26:20 point, it just looks bizarre. Joe and Jill trying to look "presidential" and doddering around like drunks, the moment when they turn around and smile and wave to the audience after delivering the most divisive speech of his political career.
