According to South Carolina law, everyone over the age of 17 is automatically a member of the "unorganized militia" of the state. A republican state senator, Tom Corbin, is trying to strengthen the law to nullify any federal gun bans.

ALL of the noise (lies) from the liberal/communists about 'gun control' are just that, noise. They KNOW there are now 120 MILLION honest Armed Americans (The greatest Army on this planet) and there is NO force that can or will defeat US. The very IDEA that a US. Congress would even attempt (treason) to make any law against THIS 2nd Amendment, Proves they are The Enemy of the US. Constitution. Each and Every one of them that votes for any 'gun control' is guilty of treason, because They all KNOW the Only result of gun control IS= Chicago+ gun control=762 Murders, Every year. You can add NY City, Cal. and Every other liberal BS city where criminals are always armed, but the citizen is disarmed.
This is why the new tactic is now being employed--asking credit card companies to createa new guns and ammo code.

No. Just a desire not to be hornswoggled. Washington was good enough, we don't need to misquote him.
It is also quite possible that the original source never survived except by word of mouth. Just because he starts another speech somewhere in the same manner does not disprove it either or mean that it was manipulated. They may be different quotes entirely on separate occasions. I personally would not be calling out the dangers of misquoting Washington that people should not lie as in disproving the cherry tree saying. If a kid reading that quote admires Washington and vows to never lie because of it more power to him. I could think of a million better ways to spend my time than tearing down legends of valor. It seems Washington's library is being run by leftists. To prove all their refutations of serious quotes by Washington they end their article with recent Bart Simpson quotes from Simpson episodes, as if our country has always been a nation of buffoons.

I am no fan of Reuters and have faulted them elsewhere. But in this case, they have the original quotation:

It is my understanding that this page is devoted to truth-seeking, not bias or myth confirmation. I would be delighted for Reuters to be proven wrong---so have at it!
