Can someone explain to me why lord of the rings is catching so much heat? I'm admittedly pretty nerd, but all the books and lore has black elfs ( dark elfs ) and all kinds of other weird shit. I havent seen any homo shit in there yet and the show is as it should be, without a bunch of wokism. Overall, LOTR is pretty dope and IMO better than the game of thrones prequel.
The dark elves (Moriquendi, or Avari) were called that because they hadn't seen the light of the trees of valinor, not cause of the colour of their skin. The colourblind casting is both stupid as it doesn't have any internal logic like they have in House of the Dragon and goes against canon. However, the real problem with the show isn't this ir the fact that they are butchering the lore but the awfulness of the writing. It's just really idiotic and badly executed.
The writing is absolutely atrocious and everything looks fake/plastic. I couldn't even watch it long even to get to the black elves.
Catching heat because this is not a well written anything. ...Show, movie, series. Maybe someone (writers) should have read the original and show some semblance of understanding of literature. If the writers want to make a completely woke series...come up with your own story. Leave Tolkiens story alone. There is a large fan base of LOTR/TOLKIEN. Amazon made the mistake of thinking they could throw money at a program and have a built in audience...better to spend time reading Tolkiens original writings, than to watch this POS version.

Gene Roddenberry suggested a planet where everyone was alike. One race, one language, and what unique culture would that create. This was the basis for Mr Spock and the planet Vulcan. No matter the tv episode, or Star Trek you could immediately pick out a Vulcan extra
Now they create Black Vulcans - which destroys the entire premise for their existence
Hobbits, elves, dwarves - that WAS THE RACE. This why they all behaved along the same culture. They were alike
Dark Elves were evil (Drow). This was their culture. This is why the books made sense. Inject Woke and it all falls apart
On it being better than House of the Dragon, I have to disagree with you, and I am a massive Tolkien fan and was looking forward to Rings of Power until I saw what they did to wheel of time which they really destroyed. The dialogue, plot, costumes and acting in House of Dragon is way better than this flashy but essentially empty Rings of Power.
