And the typical PW blowhard pipes up with:
Just... wow. Like you'd even know about these, ignorant dumbass. These services are potentially used by ANY online e-commerce site that processes payments.
And we have to look deeper than that. PayPal isn't a parent company. eBay owns PayPal, therefore you have to consider all of PayPal's sister companies owned by eBay like:
Craigslist rent.com shopping.com skype (in part) StubHub Flipkart
and a bunch of others. Just because you're not directly engaged with them yourself doesn't mean you're not patronizing these businesses.
We REALLY need to get into breaking up big companies from owning so many things...
Lobbyists pay them to ignore antitrust law.
At least owning companies that should be competitors...
But then they would just use third parties.
NICE BREAKDOWN fren.....thankx
I just looked into who owns Pay Pal. Turns out, Vanguard owns 73%. It all makes sense now. And even though Blackrock is "bigger" than Vanguard, Vanguard owns more shares of Blackrock than anyone else.
Bet they purposely ran this into the ground to short the stock.
The "mistake" was the plausible deniability that got the unstoppable ball rolling.
Same peeps own vanguard and Blackrock so... I once read the Queen owned 18 million corporations.
If you have an EIN...
What's an EIN? You're obviously not talking about the German word for one.
This is true - eBay spun Pay Pal off in 2015. Their stock symbol is PYPL. I thought I remembered that - I remember when eBay bought them too. I sold a lot of my old smarthome stuff on eBay, usually for more than what I bought it for (it really retained it's value well).
Important to distinguish between Swift Financial Services, and SWIFT, the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Transfers. PayPal owns the first, which is another of the many random e-commerce payment systems, vs. SWIFT a worldwide banking network.
Tuesday is going to be brutal for those shareholders
Bit of a fucking monopoly.
How are they not a monopoly??
Well there goes my honey extension
Wondering about CashApp
They own SWIFT? Sociiety for Worldwide Interbank Financial Transactions. They process a big chunk of the world's credit card transactions. That is one of the most secure buildings I've been in.
https://www.swift.com/contact-us
They don't own THAT swift. Swift is cooperatively owned by many companies, like MasterCard or Visa, but bigger (as in more banks are members of swift than of MasterCard).
There's a different swift financial that they do own.
Thanks for the clarification. SWIFT could probably buy and sell PAyPal all day long.
That's SCH you've got there. Not the big Swift.
SCH vs ACH?
Thanks for posting, I was unaware of this.
Looks like PayPal is positioning itself as the only choice for payment transfers. All the easier to inflict their social credit score that way. Ugh.
