First, the big problem... (politely)...
I have no idea how 'mentally fit' he was before the stroke, but his ability to communicate is currently impaired. It might be a tragedy that the stroke affected him, but it takes away a central requirement of a (real) Senator -- in the same way that 'losing an arm in a car accident' would remove a central requirement of being a concert violinist. It doesn't mean that your life is over, but certain avenues are now (unfortunately) gone.
A 'real' Senator must have the ability to 'have a point of view and persuade colleagues', 'engage in useful two-way communication with constituents', 'negotiate best solutions', etc.
So here's the subtle problem...
The political machinery has convinced (some portion of) the voters that the ability to do the job of 'Senator' is not important. All that matters is whether you will 'vote with your party'. This mindset accepts that all of our elected representatives are mindless robots who are simply expected to 'vote for red or blue'. Worse yet, this mindset accepts that someone else sets the agenda. (But who?)
We, as 'The People', should expect that our representatives in Congress are working on our behalf, negotiating the best possible outcome from among a multitude of options. Instead, we have (some portion of) 'The People' who are clearly not interested in (proper) representative government, but simply see it as a power struggle.
I wish they would ask themselves - "What is a Senator's job?"
Fetterman has no capability to hold public office in his current state. His handlers and everyone involved knows it.
I agree with you, but your statement is true only if we all understand what a Senator's job is.
For his handlers (and some voters), all he needs to do is 'vote blue' to be fully and completely qualified.
And that's my point. We need to (re)-teach Civics in this country.
What is the true job of a Senator?
The chief job of a sitting US Senator is to serve their state's government in Washington. A US House member represents a district within their state, Ex: the 2nd district in Indiana or the 3rd district in Wisconsin. Meanwhile, a Senator represents an entire state.
Also, before the 17th amendment, Senators were appointed by the state legislators.
Yes, the 17th is as harmful as the 14th....
Both strip lots of Power from State Governments, the 17th obviously by stripping the States of their Direct Representatives, but the 14th by stripping the States of their Peoples, the State Citizens or ""Natives of a State""....
By way of clarification, does a US Senator serve their 'state government' or do they serve 'the people of their state'?
Currently, Senators serve noone but Congress, whereas their jobs, before the 17th Amendment, was to serve as Represntatives of their State, with the guidance of their State Legislature, and advice from their Governor....
But the way it stands now, they serve the U.S. Congress and their Respective Party, and the whole of the Senate, is today, nothing more than a Second House of Representatives, and no longer a Senate.....
It's the state government.
The not so subtle problem is, regardless of who the candidate is, some people can be persuaded to vote for more of what we are getting. Who is it that wants more inflation, more CRT, more Drag Queen story times? Who is voting for a wide open border that feeds human trafficking and the flow of more fentanyl disguised as lesser drugs or even candy?
Dominion.
I'll leave it up to you to decide whether I am talking about a company or a spiritual entity.
Do not forget the Mules, who will sadly sell out their country for a few dollars per phony ballot. But, even if it’s hard to believe, I hear the occasional person defend Biden and act like none of this is his fault.
Or a Political Conspiracy....
I don't think Fetterman even wanted to run. It seems obvious to me that the lump on his neck has been calling the shots for some time.
I could never understand how he got where he was to begin with. Garbage man, bouncer maybe..... stand in for Lurch........I am appalled when I see Fetterman signs on the way to work..luckily where my new apartment is theres lots of republican signage.
Extortion?
“What is a senator’s job?” That should be a required question before you get to vote for a senator.
Cool it with the anti-semitic remarks.
