The lefties are calling this brutal lol. Its not brutal any company that has a lot of customers and customer data would do this. When your work force is that big they have to make sure you first dont destroy all the computers in the office and second that you dont just go in and start deleting accounts or giving out information on customers.
I've heard if someone hands in a resignation at Dave Ramsey's organization, he just lets them go right then. Pack up their desk and out within the hour. He doesn't want people anxious to go elsewhere hanging around for a two week notice. Makes sense.

Lot of companies do this, especially in sales. Don't want you taking the customers. Two jobs I have worked at, the computer access was cut off immediately if you handed in your resignation. One job, I gave my two weeks but was prepared to go that day; I was going to a customer though, not a competitor. Because of that, they were okay with me staying the two weeks.
They think it’s brutal because this is the first time silicon valley is being directly impacted by wide spread lay offs something the blue collar workforce has experienced for decades. They thought they were untouchable. Life finds a way
The people at twitter being laid off right now weren’t in the tech industry in 2009, they were in high school or early college.
When there were layoffs at the company where my husband worked, they told those laid off to pack up their stuff, and they were then escorted out by security. All happened in about a 20 minute period. Pretty standard. Guess the snowflakes are getting a taste of reality.
