IPhone users are very loyal, and price does not seem to be a factor.
Android users are satisfied with theor phones snd their prices are hard to beat.
It has been a while since either company has released anything new or exciting.
I dont think politics would be enough to drive many people to a new phone system. The masses care little for freedom or privacy.
So what could an X phone possibly have to drive business?
Since I have neither of the 2 phones most commonly used an Elon Musk X phone would be intriguing.
Starlink compatible - data/voice via Sat as an option. Privacy and security (for real). Open ecosystem.
That would handy out in the middle of no where places where there is no cell phone coverage even out on the ocean in a sailboat
Username checks out.
He could give them away for free and make money via licensing his new O/S to the apps. Free internet connection to Starlink as a bonus. Possibly exclusive to Tesla Phones. So everyone runs out and swaps for the hot new FREE thing and all the money is made in the back end deals once the user base is captured from the enemy. And if the business model doesn’t quite work, the Department of Defense covertly underwrites it.
If the normal grid goes down the Starlink phones would still be operational? I would assume anyway.
I want my next phone to have a built in Tazer. C'mon Elon, please!
I don't get upgraded unless i absolutely have too. I don't use my phone for anything else but calling ppl and I never ever take it with me when I leave the house.
People are really bugging me to get a cell phone. I tell them, in China they used to be a convenience now they are required.
I was very loyal to Apple. I now watch as long as I can to upgrade. I might get an iPhone, but would prefer to have a choice. 4 years out of date on my iPhone. Used to fan boy yearly.
I hardly see the point of a smart phone. Tech sucks theses days.
I would buy one only for this: the ability to autosort all of my app icons in different ways vs. all the manual BS. They know it's a problem but they won't do a thing about it.
It would be very hard to convince me to be honest. As someone who owned the Microsoft phone for a number of years, and tried to variations of it because I wanted something different, I have to say the app market will absolutely destroy any love you have for the hardware or operating system of the x phone.
Not having an adequate gym app, or having an app to talk to your friends, or having a decent texting app that is efficient and can store images, or having support to open Excel documents, there's a number of things you don't realize you use your phone for until you're not able to use them.
He can make excellent hardware, and an excellent operating system, but without that market support it's pretty much doomed to fail. At least for people like me who don't even have laptops or computers anymore, and they just use their phone for everything from scheduling their employees to creating leases to searching for new vehicles to keeping in contact with family to taking random photos, the app market is a big deal.
