Yes.
Unlike the two "fake" independents who are just caucus with democrats, Sinema is going to caucus with neither party. This means 50 D - 49 R and Sinema. Kamala is the tiebreaker.
Democrats will have to put her on committee seats or they risk republicans wooing her away to caucus for them.
Schumer will still be Majority leader because Sinema voting against him wouldn't change the outcome. It would just be 50-50 and Kamala would be dragged in to break the tie. So it's just simpler for Sinema to vote for him since it doesn't change the outcome.
I expect she will vote for Schumer for that reason. Why spend the capital?
Sinema votes 50% of the time with republican and 50% with democrats.
However, watch out for 538 and other places that try to push some real BS that she votes 90% of the time with Biden's position. That's crap. They changed it to Biden's position to try and cover up how big of a headache she is for democrats. What's even dumber is they use that same joke of "Biden's position" to push that Manchin votes 90% of the time with Biden.
Manchin? Are you kidding me?
It doesn't mean anything. It's how you vote on the actual bills.
I might agree with your position that you need a vacation. That doesn't mean I'm going to vote to fund your vacation with taxpayer money, but sure I agree with your position that you need a vacation.
Some magic wording there.
Does this change the senate balance? No.
Does this change things a lot? Absolutely.
50 D - 49 Republican + Sinema.
You can't count on 49R's on votes because of the quisling Republicans.
Same for democrats. Manchin and Sinema are thorns in their side.
Leftists are screaming "TRAITOR" about Sinema. That's funny.
Angus, is a so called "independent", but they don't have a problem with him. Oh that's right, he doesn't cause problems to their agenda like Manchin and Sinema.
I've been watching Leftists screaming murder about Sinema. They KNOW this is bad, BAD for their side and she's not like the fake independents. This is humiliating for them. They stole the GA runoff and wanted to spike the football, then she humiliates them like this and takes away their thunder.
She initially said she intends to continue caucusing with the Demonrats. If she changes her tune because of public backlash, I won't trust a word she says until her actions prove it.
I dont doubt that a couple will so they can get a couple weak Republican focused bulls passed.. They see whats comming. This is how they keep up the rouse. Try and make it look like there are 2 sides.
Yes, but it greatly affects committee seats when the senate is split.
Here's Sinema's voting record. She voted with conservatives 5% of the time. Don't expect much from her. https://heritageaction.com/scorecard/members/S001191/117
I don't either.... But doesn't this cause issues with the Dems having control of the committee assignments?
Not sure, good question.
No, because she will still caucus with the Demonrats like Bernie and Angus King do.
She's still a wolf, she just changed her clothing.
Ahh good point
Only if she sides with Republicans. Only time will tell.
I am wondering if we got dirt on her and a few others that might need to switch to avoid Guantanamo.
I think she will still caucus w/ the dims.
The only thing it changes is that now I want to bone her slightly more.
That's actually pretty funny.
🤣🤣😂
We'd have to check her voting record and see how often she aligns herself with the Dems.
About 95% of the time
No. It's a personal power play for herself. She voted with, and will continue to, the left over 95% of the time. https://media.patriots.win/post/wkpKuq8AWa3w.png
I didn't realize I put that until just now.... It was unintentional.... I usually spell it "communist".... My mistake.... 🤣🤣🤣
Yes
She is a politician. She is positioning herself of re-election in 2 years. She doesn't want to be a Dem in 2 years, so now she can say she's an Independent regardless of how she votes.
What if others follow and tip the balance further?
Like Manchin?
the joke is on buy'd-in who has retirement $$???
No.
it does in respect to Dems and Republicans numbers but she will caucus with the Dems.
It's a step in the right direction. Let's see how this plays out.
totally agree. I think timing is interesting as well.
