I'm a little surprised to hear how easily he was 'defeated' and 'prevented' from having a family. A man like that could have started any number of small businesses, we've had how-to materials on that subject for decades. There are all manner of intelligences. I have met many high IQ types over the years that have been complete emotional retards and have no common sense. Being smart requires a more complete package of various intelligences. There are several types of IQ tests out there. I have had a few myself. They all use different matrices and are looking for differences that are deemed "intelligence." So to me, having the label of high IQ does not necessarily equate to having smarts.
