So they 25th Xiden and Harris becomes POTUS. She then gets to pick the VP with a simple majority of both houses in Congress confirmation. She can pick Big Mike or Hussein. Would any of the Republicrats break to confirm? Would it make the vote? Constitutional crisis in the making.
don't think so. much chatter about Harris not being a US born citizen so she might not qualify as a President. perhaps it was for this exact reason she was given the VP seat, to have Pelosi next in line in event Biden got unseated or died.
myself thinks the new house rules allowing the quick change of the speaker role and Gaetz nomination of Trump during the selection proces (to make folks aware he's an option) could be indicative of a plan to install trump as speaker before Biden gets ousted... and wala, GEOTUS is back! at least would make for a great movie!
Man I thought Kevin spacey was soo good in that show. I was soo pissed he turned out to be a kiddie rapist. I can never watch any of his movies anymore and he had all the goood ones.
Even just for optics, Trump needs to be kept far away from all the bad shit, even though they'll still blame him and the entire republican't party for everything.
She was born in Oakland CA, so I think they'll insist she's eligible. It's true that her parents are foreigners - her mother was born in India and her father in Jamaica, making Kamala an anchor baby - but I don't think the rules say anything about that.
Could be a fight but I wouldn't count on it keeping her out.
Except that the Constitution's natural born clause was not intended to cover jus soli but only jus sanguinis. Meaning, the only factor that mattered was the status of your parents and the allegiance to whom they owed. In order to be a natural born citizen, at least one of your parents must be a US citizen (originally father only, but was expanded to mother for obvious reasons and rightfully so). Doesn't matter where you're born, but just to whom. That's why Tim Tebow is eligible, despite being born in the Philippines.
Doesn't matter that SCOTUS previously made their jus soli anchor baby ruling. They were wrong.
So the only question that matters is whether at least one of her parents was a US citizen or was at the very least, subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the USA, meaning had a green card and already renounced citizenship to country of origin or previous domicile.
At the time of the creation and ratification of the Constitution, Vattel was the western authority when it came to the Laws of Nations, hence the title of his book. Framers were well aware of him and his work, and cited as influence. And what did Vattel say? In short, jus sanguinis.
Do not fail to maintain the context of the entire sentence from the 14th: "subject to the jurisdiction thereof." A foreign national is not fully subject to the jurisdiction of the USA, but is rather subject to the jurisdiction of their home country, the government of which to whom they maintain allegiance.
Unfortunately, what the SCOTUS rules is the law of the land.
SCOTUS renders rulings in individual cases and no more. Such rulings indicate how the Court would likely rule again in similar cases, so most challengers will just cower and stop enforcing the law as is called for. That's not how it should work. When the Court errs, they are to be ignored and resisted. That's why it's essential to have strong local and state government officials with backbones to do what is right.
Mr. Marshall has made his made his ruling. Let him enforce it.
I agree. The mainstream media is calling him out now. They could make a laptop investigation disappear there is no reason they could not have made this go away. He played his part.
Even if they got rid of Biden, and get rid of Harris, McCarthy cannot constitutionally rise from Speaker to POTUS. Doesn't matter what the current order of succession statute says, Speaker isn't an eligible officer to succeed. Constitution supersedes statute.
not sure if your post or the constitution specifically and uniquely covers a scenario where the VP remains the VP but is ineligible under the constitution to take the seat of presidency. perhaps this is the nuance that gets the speaker in if that's how the movie goes. a long shot sure, but time will tell
Sure, if VP isn't actually eligible, then it would require moving to next in order... granted if VP isn't eligible, then they also aren't eligible to be VP. Would, or at least should cause the VP to be vacant as well.
Still doesn't solve the issue over the Speaker (a current member of Congress) not being eligible to succeed. Has to be an Officer of the USA.
I can't speak to if Harris's birth and parents birth status make her qualified to be VP. standards could very well be different in this regard between VP and President

President McCarthy? I forgot about her foreign born angle.

Interesting take fren. I like it.
Wow, that sounds like a plot straight out of Frank & Claire Underwood’s playbook. Ingenious!
cue House of Cards intro*

Socrates knows Something.. that is awesome thinking. Thanks
That would be fucking amazing. The left would go nuts and I'd love it.
Trump needs to be in before the financial shit drops over the edge or who knows what they'll do with it.
Even just for optics, Trump needs to be kept far away from all the bad shit, even though they'll still blame him and the entire republican't party for everything.
I think by the time this would occur in a couple months time, there would only be about, what, 4-6% that still aren't awakened and they will never be!
Likely he influences the outcome anyway. Trump that is. But you are right. He can't have the title while this is happening.

hussein didn't qualify for president, but that never stopped them.
Kamala is exactly where she needs to be. Just like dick cheney. Thats the DS' MO.
Cheneys role was much different and he had way more power.
Romney

That’s the play. Harris appoints Clinton VP, and likely resigns making Hilliary President going into 2024.
She installs newsom and 2024 is rigged for him
Fuck that.
….usernames …..and all that jazz
I like the panic theme cats...
25th seems like the easy way out. Tossing him for being illigitimate would be the truth.
Why was she saved from official announcing? Why was she reserved for a last minute change?
Unless the drop that this topic in question refers to is mixing she in from somewhere else in this crazy timeline...
I feel like we're keeping an eye out for a she.
Clinton, Mike, Kamala - who else is on the possible roster?
By Mike, do you mean Big Mike?
