This sounds wonderful, but how do we prevent them from moving this activity into the names of their children? Remember these families are run like dynasties. As I read this rule, if Joe were a member of Congress, there would be no penalties if Hunter were to do all his trading for him.
There needs to be a section specifically addressing the consequences of any immediate family member, not just the spouse, who is found to be participating in insider trading. This would be a much messier piece of legislation, but otherwise it is toothless.
Is impact would also be limited by whatever reset or crash that they have in mind. Hell, this could help them avoid suspicion of them all cashing out of stock market now before they do it..
My first thought EXACTLY. Their children, nephews, cousins, uncles, a close friend they have a wink-wink relationship with, etc. etc. This is a very hard issue to enforce with sooooo many options to circumvent.

The fact that [they] can do insider trading using the real and actual levers of power while "normal" people are prosecuted for learning a little inside baseball is not only bs but fk criminal. FYI, all trading firms use inside baseball, fk they even create it, so [they] have an advantage. People, that is the low hanging fruit. It does not even get close to uncovering the off exchange trading and naked shorting which is the real reason the FED is running an unlimited printing press and we have "unprecedented inflation"... the more you know.

Yes! I wondered the same w/ Madoff too. Look at our social security system. They take from current workers ("investors") to pay previous workers ("investors"). That's a ponzi scheme!! So the gov can do it but Madoff fries for it??? (Mind you, I despise Madoff, but just proving a point that how can it be legal for some and not for others unless, like Martha, something scared the sh!t out of them)

Nice idea but Josh Hawley needs to give the reintroduction bill a more suitable name. Everything she did was a con.
On first glance, it reads like it was Pelosi's idea to ban lawmakers from trading stocks.
Extend the penalties to anyone found to be getting insider info from Congresscritters, and additional penalties to those who tried to 'get around' the law by going to extended family or other contacts.
