yes property taxes are thievery in the first degree and to add insult to injury the excuse they use is to support the schools that are indoctrinating the children to be woke loosers.....
Misspelling "losers" really adds to the failure of public schools! Updooted. 5th Generation Chess move, OP!
oops...never could spell worth a shit but i can do math in my head faster than most can do with a computer...lol
You're no looser, op! (unless you "get around" of course. And female)
Homeowners with no kids and those whose kids have already left public should not have to pay public school taxes. Period!
Why should some newly weds or a 75 yr old couple with an empty nest have to pay school taxes while the hood rat on section 8 that pumped out 8 bambinos gets away with paying nothing?!
absolutely
All part of the plan, you'll own nothing and be happy.
Here comes your bug paste ration
property taxes are rent you pay for the things that you THINK that you own. most of the legal titles you think you hold on your property are actually held by your state government and you are paying them for the privilege to use property you GAVE to them when you handed over title.
And you can never give a house or anything of value that you own "free-and-clear" to your children is a travesty also.
They are my biggest expense too. I'm looking into "land patents".
Alloidal title has been mentioned a few times around here. I've not had the opportunity to dig deep into it, but it looks like a way out of property taxes. Basically reclaiming your title or something along those lines.
Since the thing called eminent domain exists. There can never be any real land ownership in this country. That's why you pay property taxes every year, rent for having your stuff on the governments land.
We just moved away from San Antonio where we had a 1750 sq ft lot on 0.18 acres, nice house, not extravagant. My 2023 taxes were going to be $8,000. EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS. We voted with our feet and left Texas. Broke my heart. But that's too crazy.
Yeah Texas has some serious property tax. Highest in the nation I think
45th out of 50, according to a quick internet search. NJ the highest. I believe it about Texas. And for what? We had to get out.
IL’s is high too! Real high!! Just checked, 2nd highest behind New Jersey!
Chicago land is ridiculous
No state income tax though.
where to? if you don’t mind? I need to go somewhere blood red
I would like to know too. I was aiming FOR Texas...
Property taxes are really high. No state income tax though but those property taxes are really high.
Tennessee or Florida
East Tennessee might be my landing spot, someday. God Willing.
So weird that somebody posted this about property taxes today because I was just having a conversation with a friend. My parents paid off their house in 1970 but their mortgage was only $120. So really, it didn’t make any difference. The gas bill is more than that. The property taxes for my mom, a widow, are in the thousands even with her senior discount. She’s still renting.
And of course, the taxes never, ever go down, somehow they always go up. I live in Maryland and I called the county and they blamed it on the State, I called the State and they blamed it on the county--a real government runaround. But I am going to call again, it has been a couple of years and I recently got my new tax bill--went up again.
Eastern TN ❤️ we love it although it's a little cold
Is it warmer than Vermont? That's our current hell..
I'm sure. They say it will be clearing up in about 6 weeks.
Hope the snow is not too bad... I'm completely done with shoveling my driveway...
This is not a free country when you pay for your home outright, but still need to pay property taxes, and if you don't they take away your home. We need to face that American's lost the war with the queen, if we're paying 24% income taxes if you make $100,000 a year or if you're paying property taxes or any tax at all. I hope Americans will start the next Revolution, because the founding fathers either completely failed us or the founding fathers were just secret agents for the crown and fucked us over.
Life, liberty and property was replaced with Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Do we blame the freemasons?
Property taxes do serve a purpose or at least they did when they were made. Prevented the super rich from buying all the land and sitting on it without any penalty when the west opened up. That being said they’re too much now
The super rich could afford to sit on it anyway, that makes no sense. All it does is make land owning less accessible for everyone else
Do some research on it then come back
