Ok, thank you. Next question. So when of if it made it supposedly to GA the winds took an upward turn to thrust it into SC? Because GA is below SC. Just trying to make sense of the pattern.
Yesterday evening when it was reported in Alabama, I assumed it had gone about 2000 miles from Billings in the morning, and that would have been about 150 mph. The track on the map does look like a jetstream dip. Can't quite see yesterday's jetstream path on the map, the low point of the storm on the right is lower than it is today. https://www.wunderground.com/maps/wind/jet-stream. That is about 10 km high. This isn't very precise calculation, but it looks like it could have been carried on the jetstream at least part of the way.
I literally asked this question in general chat lastnight! Nobody answered. I don't personally see how it got this far. My questions were... wind speed, weather conditions, do you know how far apart these states are? Is it just floating? Or is it being controlled? So many questions???
Floating mostly....controlled, probably using altitude and winds to go where ot needs to...propulsion? maybe solar/battery propeller....but winds were westerly over 100 mph this week.
Also repots out of Missouri, Georgia and other states, there is probably more than one floating around.
Honest question, why did it float Diwn to GA then Up to SC? I'm so trying to figure this out? Along with my other questions?!
I haven't heard of more, like GA....but yes the winds out of the west are over 100mph this week.

I didn't see any GA reports, but limited direction control can be used by varying altitude...the wind direction will differ some.
Ok thank you.

This post by u/mmtwo is worth watching regarding all the balloons up atm:

MonkeyWerx covers your question at the 11 min mark: https://youtu.be/IHqBXwLDwZ0
And no, the direction of the balloon allowing for wind shear, speed , direction etc does not make sense.
Thank you!
ikr- pentagon already said it was changing directions.being controlled
Biden will wait a week until he tells us that there are more๐๐โ๏ธ
Read my post here - it answers some of these questions:

Your the only one asking the real questions lol
I know for a fact that a gas balloon can travel from Albuquerque to Ontario in 3 days, so........
Look at a map!
