In 53 Illinois schools, not a single student can do grade level math.

the operation is completed, a 100% success
And, they're probably more well-versed in, and obsessed with, the host of made-up genders and systemic and institutional racism (and woke icons and influencers) than they are "readin', writin' and 'rithmetic".

This. My mom was able to hand pick her curriculum and help us in subjects we were struggling with. At one point, while I was in 9th grade, she gave my brother and I a 12th grade grammar book and told us to finish it with good grades and we wouldn’t have to do any more since it was the highest grade book for high school. I still remember how easy is was and she kept to her word, we never had to do more grammar.
In Baltimore it’s 23, 10 of them high schools. It’s the 4th highest federally funded school districts in the country. $21,000 per student per year and they can’t even count to 21,000. Disgusting.

Please also remember that they dumbed everything down by at LEAST a full year using COVID as an excuse. So they are at least TWO years behind.
Alert to the homeschoolers, even those curriculum providers have moved everything back a year or more as well!
Look for the Core Knowledge series (NOT common core), which began many years ago by educators that were distressed at the worsening standards. We bought the books "What your first grade needs to know" through sixth grade, but now their website has all of it out there.
Picture not accurate
I went to school in Illinois until the 7th grade then moved to the south. And math is like Chinese or Greek to me and I'm 46! I can agree with with.
Occam's Razor. The teachers can't do grade level math.
True story. Every new math teacher to my building the last 20 years of my career were deficient at high school level math.
akademiks be racis man
But everybody get a participation ribbon
They threw more money at this design feature - err " problem ", and what do u think happened ? As the money grew the problem also grew. Funny how that works. Now apply that template to nearly every single thing that is fkd.

Want to know why? Because curriculum is teaching a grade level or more ahead in all grades. They’re trying to teach to much too soon and nothing is comprehended or even retained. This is coming from me, a public school teacher who recently quit to homeschool my own kids.
I taught in an urban public school for 41 years before retiring in’20. If anything, or curriculum is behind other countries. I traveled to Japan and saw an Algebra I course taught in 4th grade (age 9) while a similar or watered down version is taught to our 9th graders (age 14). The Japanese class was NOT part of a gifted program. I observed other algebra I classes in other countries starting at an earlier age than US public school students. And this was before Obama’s Common Core made this worst.
Interesting. I understand what you are saying, and can see that compared to other countries this seems true. I taught early elementary. The kids were extremely behind and lacked basic math skills. Curriculum is a disgrace and most likely the reason the US is so far behind. The verbiage is unreal. It’s almost like everything is a trick question. I wonder what early elementary curriculum looks like in other countries? To me it seemed like everything was so advanced, I guess it’s just because our children are so far behind. My career was much shorter than yours. I was in 8 years, but the decline I saw in those short 8 years was enough to call it quits.
Imagine what I saw between 79 to 20. When I started, the Fed Dept. of Ed. was only a year old. They initiated every change done to public schools. Every new policy was NOT to the benefit of the students. It did financial benefits to teachers and especially administrators. During those years, my salary went from $14k to $90k. How many careers have a salary increase like this for the same job? Research what your local superintendent made in 80 and what they made in 20.
I can’t imagine. Thank you for doing your part in the system. God put you there for a particular reason. If you’re here I know you instilled something good in all of them. You were trusted with literally thousands of kids. Amazing acomplishment.
Thank you for the compliment. Every year my students were trained at math, got a Christian message with Bible quotes in a way that wasn’t obvious but planted seeds, got an eye opener on American history and many joined the military after graduation, although I stopped encouraging that after Obama was elected.
You impacted many lives and I’m sure many of them are anons/patriots now.
