Let's see... Milton Hershey allegedly used child orphans to work on the farm and make his fortune. Chocolate companies still use child labor because it's cheap. More reasons to boycott all of their products.
Hershey's is bland, waxy chocolate. And this mediocre recipe trickles down to all its other products. There are so many better candy alternatives out there. Stop giving this company your money.
Train your palate to really notice what you are eating. You will quickly notice that none of the stuff above satisfies your raving for sweetness for more than a minute or two and by then the aftertaste of all the added chemicals is discernable.
If you are looking for a good chocolate, check out www.choczero.com They are a small company in Fullerton, CA. I do not like white chocolate until I tasted their white chocolate. I found these on low carb/keto blogs when looking for recipes for my sister who is now keto and should I say, cooking challenged.
To save $$$ use 2krazyketos for 10% off. I like their recipes too.
One of my favorite candies ever is good old Good and Plenty. I love black (read: real) licorice, and a little sugar coating over a mild black licorice was a wonderful thing. Anyway, I hadn't had any for 15 years or something, just because I never had any reason to have candy at all, but now I have kids and they got some Good and Plenty on halloween... It tasted terrible in comparison to what I remember, didn't even really taste like licorice anymore. I looked at the ingredients and, indeed, there was no licorice in it, just a long list of chemicals. Everyone already knows that sugar is bad for you, but I bet these chemicals they're replacing the old real food ingredients with are even worse.
Bummer. The Bark Thins are good. Now I know. No excuses😁. Dammit. They corporations buy up all of the good stuff. Try cutting Frito Lay’s out of your life. Ha! They have a huge sector of the snack market.
This is just inspiring many to start making their own healthier snacks at home. Do you like Fritos? Make strips from cornmeal paste and fry it up. You can also bake it if you don't like the extra oil submersion method. Fritos are basically masa that's been deep fried.
A boycott nonwithstanding, nobody should be eating any of these. If you want a good chocolate try Lily’s or Hu chocolate (short for Back to Human). The fewer ingredients the better, as a general rule, but especially with sweets. Hu chocolate uses coconut sugar instead of cane sugar.
I’d boycott them but I’d have to be eating them in the first place. 🥲
Good post!

So they do pack fudge with children?

I guarantee this is caused by ESG.
Other than Reese's pb cups, I could easily live without any of these
Trader Joe's dark chocolate pb cups for the win if you have one nearby. Or in a pinch, dip large quality chocolate chips into peanut butter.

Also, the Chocur chocolate that Aldi sells is very good.
It has very few ingredients, none of that oil crap, and has a very creamy mouth feeling that Hershey's doesn't have.
and half the price of Her She ys
That sounds really good!
That's a good reason. Or the heavy metals.

That’s all garbage.... seed oils and soy lecithin. Yuk!
Make your own toffee instead of Heath bars. It's pretty easy, just a matter of timing.

Most consumer packaged goods companies buy and sell off brands like baseball cards

This boycott could also save you from the diabeetus
I love that word! The deeper meaning of it is nothing short of brilliant.
