The question is, if it fails, what will they try to splinter off and stick in other bills? And what happened to massive convoluted bills? I thought one of the unbreakable, sacred tenets of the House of McCarthy was to pare down and simplify bills?
This is a senate bill.
Agreed. I wish legislation was that simple but it’s not. Should be, but until we un-scumbag DC, the bills will be pork thicker than it needs to be.
I see another omnibus bill trick in the works.
I am bummed that the last Congress snuck in the legislation that it now requires 1/3 of Congress to contest an election in order to contest a state. I wish the new Congress could undo that.
This bill is a Senate bill that is currently in committee; McCarthy can't touch this yet.
However, word that Paul Ryan and Lindsey Graham are voicing opposition to this bill (Graham did a 180 against his former supporting position). The bill's probably dead in the water at this rate.
