Police were always there to defend TPTB That's who pays them.
That doesn't matter until TPTB feel threatened by the populus.
Police are employed by the government to protect the government. People need to realize this.
Far, far too many people don't understand it, and that needs to change. Maybe when someone who loves licking their boot polish, gets a call that their epileptic kid was arrested for "resisting arrest" while blacked out having a seizure.

POLIce -> POLIcy Enforcers. The state/government writes their policies that they pass off on the unsuspecting sheeple as "laws" that apply to them, otherwise known as statutes, codes, ordinances, mandates, etc. All are policies.
Way back in the day we-the-people had Peace Officers that were in charge of keeping the peace.
