If the House had the balls they would direct the House Sgt at Arms to arrest Wray and have him placed in the House jail. Yes, they actually have a jail in the Capital bldg.

This^ is what happens when there are un-elected 3-letter agencies. The checks and balances get twisted into corrupt fiefdoms.

If contempt of congress is voted on and passed.....Congress should recognize the conflict-of-interest and immediately vote for impeachment. It shouldn't matter if the requirement for impeachment goes to the Senate.... I believe this would be only for elected officials, not appointed officials like Wray,.... because the GOP House can cut the funding of the FBI and perhaps even target Wray's salary.

How was this designed originally by the Founders? There was no DOJ/FBI in the original design. I realize I don't know the answer to this. Will have to look at it.
