Assuming the 'nuclear' bomb material is what Putin got out of Nagorno-Karabakh. Their "NK" region is used similar to how China uses North Korea as a datacenter for blackmail material. Country-ending booms, no doubt about it.

I interact with a hundred different people throughout the week and everyone seems to be most concerned about the usual; sports, movies, the weekend…

I also heard some time ago that one of the presidents was told that an atomic explosion will destroy your soul. Whether you believe in heaven, hell, or reincarnation there is no afterlife if you die directly in the blast. If true this should be absolutely terrifying.

There is no foundation for this nonsense. An atomic bomb explosion is heat, light, and shock wave. No anti-soul physics. No worse than a sniper bullet through the temple. Or a 155mm artillery round that blows you to shreds. I sense that there is little appreciation for how horrible conventional war is.
