I myself was without power until sunday afternoon, and I live right near the local hospital if that tells you anything. Some people still don't have power.
I literally just got this email from a state congressman informing me about "cooling centers " where residents without power can go to get relief from the heat (it was literally over a hundred degrees yesterday when I got to work if that tells you anything)
Dunno how useful it is, but it's interesting that the story has been basically ignored by the mainstream press that an entire swathe of one of the most populated states isn't a bigger story than it is...
Did 14 days without power with the ice storm during the winter. The summer would be Worse! It is unbearable with the humidity.

Honestly, all you need is a pair of metels far enough apart int he galvanic series, a little bit of water, and, ideally, a decent electrolyte, and you can make your own batteries if you need to.
as for the solar panels, the hardest part is getting enough light to make them useful, lmao. I couldn't even get enough juice to get my phone to recognize there was power flowing till about 8 int he morning, lol (my cells are small. Planning to get some more come payday.
Just buy a battery pack at harbor freight for jump starting your car.
They have USB ports and should charge your stuff for a month....

They're going to try and roast us this summer. Just yesterday, ERCOT said the grid almost went down and was running at near max capacity...and we haven't even gotten to July and August yet.
I'm also quite tired of the weather manipulation. Born and raised in TX, and having a heat index over 20 degrees from the actual temperature is not normal. It's progressively gotten worse the last few years. I have no problem handling our normal 100-102 summer temps, but this is getting insane now. Just yesterday the heat index touched 115. We no longer have summer breezes, and the humidity levels have steadily risen each year too.
I'm sure they'll find a way to spin that shit without doing anything remotely useful...

Buddy of mine and another family member live in a suburb of Tulsa and just got their power back on.
I agree, these storms don't get the national attention they should have.
I think CBS covered one or two, but neither of the ones we are talking about. It appears we had a large rash of storms that are only being covered locally.
kinda makes me wonder if, strategically, the climate change narrative is a dud at the moment...otherwise, you'd think it'd be wall-to-wall coverage...

We were getting hit with a severe thunderstorm almost daily for a week. Wild weather.
Most of it missed us, thankfully, but that batch thursday night basically tore everything up. There's still a tree limb partially across the road where I drive home from work. (you have to change lanes, they've got cones set up)
