I NEVER give to anything unsolicited...I CHOOSE who and what to support...don't mean to be cheap/mean...just wary of the cons...
Round up for XYZ or donate to XYZ.... business holds it for however long and then it becomes one big tax write off for them.
Yep...that's why I say...no...no...no...
I dont believe there is any charity left in this world that doesnt cater to the woke agenda. I no longer donate to anyone ever and I wont start again until the rules for charities are changed. In most cases little of the money collected ever ends up in the hands of those it is collected for. Charity is nothing but a scam.
I give to NONE of these prompts, even if asked by the cashier. I don't have any "conscience" when it comes to these damn things either.
What little charity I dispense is directly to the recipient I choose.
I don’t support panhandlers, “round-up” solicitations or damn near any other attempts to steal my assets.
That's something I see all the time out here in our little rural towns - people begging. I'm sure they're professional beggars and don't live here. The latest is people inside stores pretending they don't speak English. You find out real fast they do speak English when you tell them you're calling the police to report them for soliciting without a license. heh BTW, nearly all of these begging people have small children in tow to make people more sympathetic. I am horrified by this.
There was a panhandler that stood at a busy intersection in front of a car dealership in my town every day. He was there most of the day for months and every attempt to have him move on failed.
One day the car dealership offered him a job to get him to move on and he laughed in their faces saying he made more money on that corner in an hour than they could pay him in a week.
The GM of the dealership followed him one day as he left and it turns out he had his Escalade parked in a parking lot about 1/2 mile away. The City finally got involved after that and I havent seen him back.
I see it on many corners here in the state capitol.
I’d love to “set up” on some of them with my camera and track them to see what they drive and where they come from. In Minecraft, of course…
These aren't cities but small towns. Always in areas close to the interstates so I'm sure they're driving out here from the urban DC area. It started a few years ago at gas stations with people claiming to be traveling from somewhere far away, to have lost their money and begging for gas money. Now they're all over the parking lots of shopping centers. The ones inside the stores with little cards claiming they speak no English are I'm sure an organized gang.
Another one "plays" an electric violin with a speaker, but only plays one song over and over. Yeah, that's believable. He usually has a woman and two little kids with him and a sign saying he needs money to feed his kids. There are signs all up and down the highways and storefronts here with stores, factories and warehouses begging people to apply for jobs, some with large signup bonuses. But he can't feed his kids. I guess times are hard for musicians with only one song.
They're all doing this. Don't be a chump and give them a tax deduction. I also NEVER give tips that are shoved down my throat on a payment screen. Especially for someone who has done nothing more than take my order.
Just use cash, and you won't have to worry about sneaky woke prompts!
We should all be using cash as much as possible to fight against being forced into only digital currency. Save CASH from being phased out.
I've never understood the concept of "I give a donation and the store gets a deduction", a grocery store can easily run up million dollar deductions if you give DOLLAR.
Oh? How does this work?
The store collects the "donation" from their customers for a period of time, then the store sends a lump sum amount of money to the charity and benefits from that tax deductible amount.
Walmart constantly asks for donations for something. I use cash and still get the stupid messages, it's always no. If they want to donate, good for them.
I actually saw that at Walmart in Utah…. Answer! NO
I always ask the clerk if they are willing to round down to give me a patronage discount. For some reason, they always decline. So I decline their request as well.
All digital prompts requesting you volunteer money get the answer NO.
Tinfoil: I suspect they are doing that to get rid of coins. Metal in coins can be melted down and useful for other things particularly the copper. Bullets, brass, electrical wire all kinds of stuff
