Although horrifyingly the Bill passed, the tweet is misleading. A. If the minor is consensual and 14 years or older B. If the adult is 10 years the elder or less Then the judge has discretion as to whether or not the adult has to register as a sex offender.
The crime is still a crime.
So 14 year olds can consent to sex but they can't buy tobacco, alcohol, or pot and they can't drive either. I guess they'll be changing those things soon too.

Sadly a lot of kids are starting to experiment with all these things with their piers (not adults) @ 14 and up. This is not a new thing, I speak as a young teen from the seventy's from a conservative community with both parents raising me in a christian home and the same for most of my piers. Lots of curiosity around this age.
Kids experimenting with each other is a separate but somewhat related issue.
Just because they are experimenting with each other does not change the expectations of decent and normal society.
If society decided to collectively jump off bridges, should we do that?

I came here to say this... the tweet is very misleading. I got out of Cali 6 years ago. California is RED - despite the heavy deep state presence - the state is RED, but corruption is so bad; look at Pelosi's nephew.

I saw all of this coming in California, 25 years ago. Inch by inch, a little here, and a little there. Every year we lost more freedom, and watched our fortunes being taxed away. Taxes on literally everything you do. Cops EVERYWHERE, just looking for a cracked tail light, or a bald tire, so they can stop you and shake you down for whatever they can get. And I say this as a retired Peace Officer. The whole state has become a machine, designed to move most of your money, into the hands of politicians, who use it to further enslave you and enrich themselves. We got out 20 years ago, to one of the best states ever, and have been thanking God every day since.
