They only turned on him/or exposed him, when he went after SONY.
SONY wanted him out of the way so they could claim all his music rights, and the other parts of his musical estate which included the rights to the Beatles etc.

There was a lot of incentive to lie about these things for monetary gain.

Those photos, especially the CCTV could easily be faked, used a look-alike, or even photoshopped.
