That is not factual and does a disservice to the real and true problem of pedophilia, in my opinion. The bill was created to address the problem of people who do not deserve to be labeled a sex offender being on the sex offender registry. It's meant to keep the lives of teen-agers and very young adults who have consensual sex with their boyfriend or girlfriend from having their entire lives ruined. It's about the Sexual offender registry, not about consequences for wrong behavior. It it still illegal to have sex with minors. My concern is that when people confuse this issue with pedophilia it will make discerning people less likely to take the other accusations seriously.

The evil ones act incrementally. For instance, they could never ban the 2nd Amendment, but they can constantly infringe it with what is touted to be new rules that make society safer, inch by inch. Then one day in the future, our right to bear arms has been reduced down to a hodgepodge of restrictions and limitations essentially prohibiting your 2nd Amendment rights to a very weak protection to bear arms. Put the people in a place where they can be convicted for gun crimes based on a thousand different infringements.
I know for a fact that Scott Weiner caught a lot of serious negative feedback for this bill. They had to save his ass from hot water. They created an explanation that sound good, example: "protecting an 18 y/o from prosecution for sleeping with 17 y/o girlfriend". They narrow down the implications to paint you a rosy story. In reality, if this bill passed, it would have been used to protect the 24 y/o who was sleeping with a 14 y/o. You know, I know, they know it.
Just like the LGBT scenario, many years ago they just wanted to be accepted. Laws were passed giving them more and more power. They started suing bakery's and today they are everywhere pushing this shit down are throats.

Well, I guess the bill didn't technically make sex with a child legal however, if you were with 10 years of age of the child you had sex with, you would not have to register as a sex offender. Meaning you could be a 24 y/o and have sex with a 14 y/o child and you would not go on a sex offender list.
