I work in local gov in SOFL. I get all the emergency management stuff in my in box. We used to get qualifying data for storms. Info such as atmospheric moisture content, sea surface temps, etc. along with the information for tropical storms. All of the sudden that stopped with this latest storm Idalia. We don’t get that information and are simply supposed to believe that “rapid intensification” is going to occur over the next 24 hours due to the “record high” sea surface temps, which appear to me to be exactly what they were last year. Also, if you look at those sea surface temp anomaly maps, they stopped including any data after 2010, seems weird to leave the last 12-13 years of temp data out, right? Kind of like they are manipulating the numbers?

In addition, I think the illegitimate administration hirees are less knowledgeable and haven't been keeping correct stats and records for many functions ... economic, weather-related, etc etc because they lack the education and experience, and also to obscure the truth. Just getting a paycheck and spending too much time talking about their sexual preferences, politics and getting coffee breaks.
They're looking at porn all day.

Yes I remember... back in the day all access and daily activity was limited to work computers and work...that was a no-brainer to get fired on the spot for wasting resources, not doing your job, perversion, and lack of self control.
Tides at my location are projected to be close to but not exceeding 4 ft --perfectly normal for full moon side of the cycle.
Someone was driving thru the little neighborhood in the back close to the water that was primarily retirees in mobile homes with a bullhorn saying they should evacuate, and should they choose to do so, they MAY be able to get help blah blah blah. These types of neighborhoods have been targeted in our area for redevelopment [and the city managers want a smart city], because the rich people can't stand seeing coastal property wasted on us commoners when it could be filling their pockets like other overly developed coastal areas. Fact is that owners are low to mid income and don't want to sell. Sound familiar?
It's all of a sudden, Fren.

This is an interesting thread. I don't know much of anything about weather data or how to analyze it. I am curious what you make of this video discussing the publicly available information on Idalia.

I worry that's due to the planned "environmental lockdowns."
In the Sierras, we had forecasts of around 90 degrees for the next several weeks. Then a few days ago, it forecast 68 in a few days. Yesterday it said Wednesday will be 100 degrees. Today, Wednesday will be 90 degrees, Friday 70 degrees, and showers on Sunday. An inmate from the asylum is operating the weather joystick.
Definitely suspect AF
ps ... when the weather people started yapping about climate change and getting exposed for not calling out chaf clouds and other weird anomalies on live radar, they converted weather displays to more cartoonish radar with colors that were more shocking, and diagrams instead of live feed.
I am in central west FL, only a bit breezy and the tide was normal so far for this time of month and year.
Probably because you can look it up for yourselves on NHC.NOAA.GOV or follow GOES satellite data from a popular third party platform like TropicalTidbits. You can find data up to the minute, more less within the past 13 years. The weather community is too big for them to hide data like that; and it go unnoticed.
It sounds to me like OP is getting official updates for work related purposes.
Those, official govt releases usually include all data available as a person in an EOC (Emergency Operations Center) doesn't have time to research and look for missing information.
They need everything at a glance.
They are dumbing it down to just a few buzzwords to monger fear and control thinking.
Time for Desantis to shine it sounds like, his numbers keep sinking so they have to try and find some way to portray him as fit to be CIC… weather is now part of politics…
