Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Please continue to pray for those who are in dire straits (not the group 😉). They don't know about the plan, and are oblivious in many ways to what's going on. They see on the surface level, but are maybe too scared to actually find out what is really hiding under their beds, so to speak. And as Jules mentioned in a post yesterday, people are waking up and I think we will see a revival when the chains are loosed.
I know how difficult it is to go through life thinking I could do it without the Lord. Oh, friends! Life is so much sweeter when we depend on the Lord and trust Him. He works while we're fretting and grasping and clawing our way out. Our way out may not be His way out for us. Learn to lean on Him. It takes daily and moment by moment dependence on Him to see what He has for us. (These words are as much for me as they are for anyone else!)
My husband had a coworker that started with another company, and he really wants my husband there. Not only could it mean more money, but it would mean consistency in pay. That's where our biggest issue was, financially. For whatever reason, his checks are never the same where he is, even though he's a manager, and it's hard to pay bills and keep savings! I have an interview today for a place where I'd rather not work, and I've been praying about it since getting the call yesterday. The pay would be so nice, but I don't know if my knee and hip would allow me to be walking that much everyday and carrying much weight. I pray for God's will. If my husband were to get that other position, I'd be able to just work part-time, and that's all I've wanted, but I pray for God's guidance.
Don't want to jump the gun, or count any chickens, but isn't it funny how He worka?
Praying for the best. Thanks for the updates. A lot of us can relate, for sure.
Kind of sitting on an "Oh Lord, how can I continue in this direction?" thing myself that just had an answer appear out of nowhere. Not getting ahead of myself, but trusting in the Lord as well. 🙏
Regarding jobs and pay, do whatever God guides you towards. Sometimes going for "money" doesnt necessarily create the best situations at home for mental and physical health. I have taken jobs that pay way more, only to be let go 6 months later. Food for thought, God bless you!
I believe God is moving him there. Currently, he works for a beer company and this one isn't. It will be a much needed change of pace, should he get it.
Thats perfect! Enjoy the gift.
🙏
He has a base pay, but has to meet certain goals to get a certain bonus, which he always meets, and they also reimburse him for mileage. The harder he works for them, the less he seems to make! This check was considerably less than it was last month. Insurance has gone up too, so that doesn't help! I don't see his stubs, so I don't see how much is taken out for the gov't grifts.
It's been feast or famine around here!
Assuming they're honest, sounds like he's on one of those cusps of income where a few dollars either way drops him into a different withholding rate.
I hadn't thought of that, but it wouldn't be a surprise!
