OK. Now Dove is out. I have a conundrum i need help with.
posted 2 years ago by Nitrojunkie72 2 years ago by Nitrojunkie72 +34 / -0

Im a guy, so i could care less what soap i use. However, my wife has maybe the most sensitive skin on the planet, and plain old Dove original is one of the soaps that doesn't bother her. Anyone have any suggestions on some bar soaps and body washes to try?

Dr. Bronners Pure Castile Soap. It comes in several organic oil scents. I like the rose oil. It seems to like my skin. I keep some peppermint variety for when I've been in the woods. https://www.drbronner.com/

My wife makes our soap. I can't even use a commercial soap anymore. They dry my skin out really bad.

I would suggest that you try to find a farmer's market in your area and see if there are any vendors that have home made products available.

Yes. Or try a health food store if you don't have a farmer's market. The health food store will have Dr. Bronner's soap referenced by MoLibertyson. Dr. Bronner has a plain scent one if scents are an issue as well.

Soap is barely one step of the issue. Whole house RO filter is a MUST if you are like most Americans and can't go without daily showers

I've been thinking this is a good idea, but can you FEEL the difference?

RO water needs to be re-structured before drinking. I wonder if this applies to shower water too?

realistically we should be showering only in distilled water so RO water is perfect

I have read reports from people who have shifted to washing their hair with only distilled water and taking less showers but with ro water instead and they all report better hair/skin and zero body odor versus showering daily in regular water.

Heavy metals, bacteria, chorine, microplastics, etc are harmful. The defense from shower fanatics is the skin is a good enough barrier that you can shower in tap water everyday but one, not all skin is the same thickness and two, open pores absorb everything

RO strips everything, including good minerals. Easy to add elements back in though.

I love Olde Country Soap. It's all I use, so I have no idea about body washes.

Kirk's Castille Soap - you can find it at Walmart. No perfumes or fragrances and the ingredients are pretty simple.

Perhaps "Oat and Almond" would work for her. You can get 10% off with promo code MCListener.
(I have no affiliation with them. I just support American companies when I can and appreciate discount codes that help me save money)

I make my own with Castile soap, lavender, apricot kernel oil, emu oil and castor oil. I have a skin and scalp condition and it has improved significantly.

I have dishydrotic eczema...i.e. very sensitive skin. I can only use Ayurvedic soap. Chandrika makes a nice one....all natural ingredients. And cheap.

I have this app call Yuka (it’s free with a carrot) and it rates different products based on how much toxicity is in it and Irish Spring rates really well.

Natural glycerin soap, soaps from natural oils like coconut or olive oil. Look for local makers, your farmer's markets. We get most of our year's supply from va-soaps.com when they come to our nearest homeschool conference. That lady is a chemist who started her business while they were homeschooling. The scents last and everything is high quality natural and great for skin.

You're going to have to go on a soap shopping spree and buy a bunch of different soaps and test them.

It's the only way.

Just make sure there is no soy in the ingredients. Soy plays havoc with most people’s skin.

I never could handle Dove soap, myself. Made me itch. Soapworks has some wonderful soaps. I like the Sea Kelp one, and the Cucumber with Calendula one is awesome.
