Just house some illegal immigrants there and watch the decorators come in double quick!
There's absolutely no reason for military toilets to look like that. When I was in the USAF 35 years ago, we had rotating CQ duty, where on resident in each barrack building would work there that week. One of the primary duties was cleaning the bathrooms - we had to scrub each toilet everyday and leave a bit of pine oil in the bowl to keep things smelling fresh. We also had to clean out the showers, sinks mirrors, day rooms, etc. Mondays were usually the worst, while the rest of the week, it would go a little quicker. We had plungers to unclog toilets when necessary, and if we couldn't free one up, we'd call the CE squadron over to snake it.
I don't know the "why", but this article seems fake to me. These look like pictures from abandoned bases. How would a squatter get on an active military base? And how would the MPs/SPs not be able to arrest him and keep him from returning?
Fire extinguishers in "moldy" boxes - that's not mold, that's rust.
I do remember hearing about one of the bathrooms where I was stationed, having black mold, but it was addressed pretty quickly.
IF these pictures are real, and this is an indication of the current living conditions of our military, yes, standards have dropped way below human living conditions and leadership needs to be overhauled.
A lot of bases also have a contractor operated self help store (small hardware store) where they can buy DIY supplies to fix their dorm rooms, houses in base housing and unit facilities.
I know Civil Engineering used to keep one room looking awful so they could walk members of Congress through it on a base visit as a way to score more funding. Maybe that is what is going on here.
Seems like everything else these days... pride, standards, and accountability mean very little, especially in government.
A speedy erosion of our values. Once they're gone they can tromp on everything and bulldoze over it at all. The remnants of our lost society.
The Pentagon needs to account for every dollar.
Somebody quick, hang a “Ukraine” sign over the door. Funding should pour in!
Unless things have changed drastically. On paper at least. To my knowledge they are usually paying for Civilian contractors and services to handle repairs and maintenance.
Contractors who are often coincidentally related to Political Leaders or Pentagon Brass. And or donated fat stacks to election/reelection campaigns.
IMO it probably would have been best to just cut the Civilians out of the loop. And leave repairs and cleaning to the Base Garrison. Would probably be good practice for the Engineers and in the case of the particularly nasty Barracks. Biowarfare units.
More ill treatment of the military.
A lot of Generals should be busted down to private and placed in Leavenworth for the remainder of their shitty lives.
Is this the Left's/Commie's strategy to make sure "the military is not the only way." I can see Biden and his cohorts trying to make sure the military live in squalor and get sick so they can not take our country back, but who knows. I also served and no matter how old our barracks was, it was always clean and ready for use. Are the service members not tasked with cleaning anything these days? Makes me wonder what is going on.
the military went woke, that's what's going on.
The entire military is woke? I am asking seriously, as, for me, that is very hard to believe. I can believe a lot of the command staff we see on television (if still active) is woke, but the individuals...?
Remember the story awhile back about a potential human trafficking victim living on base in the barracks? I remember asking at that time how in the world an unauthorized person could be kept in a room in a barracks long term.
This goes a long way to explaining how that could happen.
And isn't this a great way to further demoralize service members? If I had to guess, I'd bet this goes well beyond simple neglect and more into deliberate torture.
