There needs to also be something robust put in place that decouples media from government and special interest.
Obama's rule that the media can legally lie to the American people should be removed immediately. They should be held accountable for their false reporting, and shut down completely if they continue.
You mean like a repeal of the Telecommunications Act of 1996? The act that allowed them to tidy up the media from more that 200 independent TV/media outlets in 1996 to the 5 or 6 we have today? For a start anyway.

Years ago, this page had a lot more truth than it does now. The bottom line was, that the broadcasters couldn't compete with the "new" cable industry, so instead of starting cable stations, they eliminated their self-imposed rules.
Some of the rules I remember: News shows HAD to tell the truth, and opinions had to be CLEARLY displayed; Programming had to contain 25/30 and 48?/60 minutes of content v. commercial; The nuclear family could NOT be disparaged in any way.
