My memory is a bit foggy, but I believe this came out more than a year ago. Several people know / have the key code, but exactly what and where is McAfee's switch is the mystery.

I believe it was hinted to be tied to a blockchain that would unleash terabytes of dirty data on people in very high places.

Regarding the key code itself, it looks like Hexadecimal machine language. 🤷‍♂️

Hexadecimal was my first thought, but ruled it out because it contains an "M".

I saw that, but since they are the only capitalized characters and at the very beginning I assumed it was something that might point to the correct "switch" sorta like a checksum. 🤷‍♂️

Odd that it's only 90 characters (unless I miscounted). Hex is 16 count base. So, 10 characters too many or 6 too short, unless as you say, it was given extra for a purpose. Also encryption keys I'm familiar with are 128 or 256 characters, probably 512 or 1024 by now. This feels more like a key to enter into software to show you purchased it.

That's what my first thought. It looks like a software key.

You think it might be blockchain? I wouldn't be surprised. Interesting when it comes to light.

Yes, something about how ALL the dirty data was embedded in ALL of the blockchain. So technically, everyone would have a tiny slice of the bigger picture but also dependent on each other to prevent corrupted / lost data via blockchain verification methods.

FBMD, according to ChatGPT as well as searching the web appears to be Facebook Metadata.

Thank you! Appreciate your info.

ChatGPT: The hexadecimal key within FBMD typically refers to metadata embedded within an image uploaded to Facebook. To decode this metadata, one could use specialized software or tools designed to extract information from images. There are various image analysis or metadata extraction tools available online or as standalone software that can interpret this hexadecimal key to reveal details like camera information, location, date, and other technical specifications embedded in the image file.

Me: Is there a way to use the hex code to find the image?

ChatGPT: The hexadecimal code in FBMD typically serves as a reference or identifier within Facebook's system rather than a direct link to the image. It's used to associate metadata with the image within Facebook's database. Unfortunately, the hexadecimal code itself doesn't typically provide a direct means to find or access the image outside of Facebook's platform.

Even with this, I need to go to the back-end. The front end user won't have access to that info.

▲ 3 ▼
– Salt_The_Hash 3 points 2 years ago +3 / -0

That would be the easiest way to do it, for sure, but another way (and extremely tedious way) would be to find every image he uploaded and get the fbmd key from each image. Find the image that matches that key, find the answer.

The question here is, though, is the metadata different each time the image is downloaded, or is it always the same?

If we get people downloading his images, it would be good to know whether the key is the same for each photo no matter who downloads it, or does it change each time someone else downloads it.

If the same photo downloaded by 1000 different people produces the same key, then this will work to find the right one.

If each person gets a different key for the same photo, though, then this will be a wild goose chase.

Unless, he shared a photo elsewhere (X, blockchain, etc...) that was downloaded from FB. Then, that wouldn't matter. That image would certainly contain that key as it was pulled from FB by John and posted elsewhere.

When I was studying fractals, the key for the location of the pic is always the same no matter how many download, but the trouble is, the location is not exact. If you go to the pic, it depicts a little different than the key. It might be a little bit of color difference or missing a little component.

so, if one finds the picture. the picture is the key to something else and the extra digits is the pin?

So after some research, it appears to be the metadata that Facebook adds to photos that are uploaded (edit: or downloaded for tracking where the image goes) to their platform. I haven't found anything that points towards how to search for the image using the metadata key, but if I was taking an educated guess here, he left something in a photo that he uploaded to Facebook that could be found by using the many programs used to get the fbmd from the images.

This would be similar to using a checksum to identify the correct image. Find the image with that metadata key, find the answer.

This was (allegedly) the last image McAffee uploaded and to which the metadata belongs. It has now gone from Facebook but someone saved it:

https://postimg.cc/F7XGVZk3

Although this is McAffee we're talking about here so I don't think we can just go right ahead and assume the string of hex which LOOKS like Facebook Metadata IS Facebook Metadata.

Keys aren't for "deciphering". They're randomized code to unlock something. It's equivalent to the number on a combination lock. The number itself has no meaning, it just gives access to the contents.

I'm sorry but if he had had a deadman's switch we'd know by now. McAfee was made into more than he was by the anon community and some are still hanging on. That 'key' was released in 2021 I'm pretty sure. No data was ever released & it was deemed a "nothinburger".

The presence of all those zeros is illogical for an encryption key. Unless you want it to be weak intentionally. Also odd, the zeros are in repeating groups of 4.

This suggests data as 32 bit integers. When viewing little-endian? data in a hex editor it is shuffled around. Notice how the 3rd digit of each group of 8 is zero. Group from the end. In the order they are written each uint32 is 357 1065 1099 1181 3194 3577 4271 4702 5124 5992 These numbers are ascending….

6501 is a processor, is this a program?

Unicode characters are 16 bits and might sometimes be stored as 32 bits.
