WEEEKLY CHAT - WEEK 49!
WEEKLY CHAT #49
OK, let's try the weekly chat idea, V2. Been hearing some positive comments! Seems like we have a winner! Give it a chance! Here goes! <3
If you haven't been sick with a bad cold in the last few years please advise what's your supplement or immunity routine. Maybe it's other things going on with my on going health issues, IDK. But I have had more colds in the last two years than the previous years. Years ago everyone around me got sick and I never did. Not trying to get an analyzed. Simply curious to see what works for you.
I've been following the Zelenko protocol and added a couple extra supplements.
My daily routine is to take the following vitamins and supplements in the morning with water: 1 VitC 1000mg, 1 Quercetin 500mg, 1 NAC 600mg, 1 Saw Palmetto 500mg complex, 2 VitD3 5000iu, 1 'Nature Made' brand Super B-Complex.
I have not been sick since I've started this daily regimen in 2020. However there have been 3 or 4 times when I felt that scratchy feeling in my throat indicative of the onset of a cold. In those cases, I swap the quercetin for 12mg Ivermectin. The symptom will vanish within a day or two and I'll feel back to normal, but i still take Ivermectin for 3 or 4 more days to be sure. Then i switch back to quercetin.
This is what has worked for me, I hope it helps you in some way.
Thanks I've never heard of Zelenko protocol, I'll be doing research for sure. I was taking D3w/K, zinc, C, elderberry syrup & vinegar, honey, ginger (vermonts brand) religiously and still got sick three times in 2022. Had a terrible cold or something in July bad soar in August had COVID in September (yeah was stupid and tested) never again. Some time in 2022 was so sick had to go to dr for antibiotics by then testing was stopped treated for strep. I've never had it and don't think I did then. My brother and two cousins always got it and I was exposed a lot never got it so I'm doubtful it was strep, guess something that was released.
Controlling inflammation in the body by good gut health and diet which involves avoiding sugar in all forms (which is inflammatory!), avoiding gluten in all forms which is also inflammatory and supplementation with circumin, Keeping inflammation down helps the immune system.
Thanks for the tip. I'm very aware of the dangers of sugar and gluten. I'll admit I have always had a horrible sweet tooth and I'm working on that. As soon as Christmas is over I'm going to eat mostly beef (if not 100%). I don't know if I'll commit 100% to beef but I'm going to try my best. Have a freezer full of local beef and I love beef.
Loads of good ideas in the comments here.
I use daily quercetin and NAC on top of what is listed here.
Also, at first sign of "cold", tea with added lemon, honey and a good 1/4 or more tsp of cayenne pepper can help knock it out!
Thanks, If I get sick I have several different teas that help and I believe in lemon and ginger water. I'm being to drink it first thing in AM. Hopefully that will help as well.
Vitamin D supplementation is super important for me. I try to have my D levels checked at least once a year; I am almost always low, even with supplements, and I can always tell when I'm reaching critical levels because every exposure to everyone leads to me being sick with something. I've started taking a 10,000 IU supplement with a K2 supplement everyday which has helped immensely this winter. Quercetin, vitamin d supplements, and zinc have been helpful for my somewhat immune compromised husband.
Also, it's not a supplement, but I find that eating massive amounts of tzaziki when everyone around me is sick keeps me well. Plain greek yogurt, tons of raw garlic, raw cucumber, lemon juice, and olive oil. I smell awful (probably why the germs stay away), but I feel great, lol.
I have never heard of tzaziki just looked it up and it sounds delicious. Thanks for sharing I'll be checking that out. I love meditation food. In July my vitamin and mineral levels were good except B12 was on the low side but not enough to require injections/supplement. I've had chronically low B12 off and on the last twenty years. Can't figure out why the levels are good and I'm getting sick. Who knows if the test are correct. The entire medical system is awful. It's so frustrating getting lab tests and the doctor doesn't explain anything. I'm about done with them unless it's an emergency. Would love to find independent legit testing.
Saline flushes for my sinus issues, the one in the can, Zinc, daily doses of it, along with Liposomal Vitamin C, Vitamin A and D, if I am going out to market or a meeting I use colloidal silver before I go out if it is cold and flu season, I snort it up the old nozzle, just before I go out and after I come home You can get it in a spray bottle from Sovereign Silver. I do not use it at the same time I do the saline flushes. Lo histamine foods and Claritin or Allegra work on histamines also, histamines cause inflammation, and whether or not you have allergies, the body responds to histamine over loads by creating mast cells, mast cells will cause an immune response in the respiratory system, which is symptomatic of a cold, inflammation, cough, phlegm, etc.
I need to get better about saline flushes, thanks for the reminder. I got slack and it's showing with allergies. The allergies are usually when trees are budding and fall when farmers are getting in the crops. Except for a couple weeks last spring my allergies have been much better. I've read a lot about colloidal silver and never gone further. Probably fear of the unknown. I have dermographism, allergic to touch. It's a form of the hives and there isn't much information on it. I was diagnosed at 9 years old in 1976, I took Atarax up until about a year ago. I still get the RX just in case. Figured out by accident St John's wort controls it and I only need the RX if I forget to take St. John's for several days. Since St. John's is an anti viral I'm thinking it's helping keep the symptoms at bay. Also helps neuropathy. Funny you mention Claritin and Allegra. I tool Allegra over 30 years ago for allergies finally stopped and couldn't tell a difference. Took Claritin RX about five years and when I stopped all meds my allergies were worse but I'm tired of taking RX. This past spring my allergies were making me feel horrible & I bought Claritin and every time I took it I got a terrible headache. Those antihistamines and Benadryl are like a sugar pill compared to Atarax. It knocks most people out.
