Here’s a side of sauce:

I’ve always felt King Arthur’s products are overpriced. I bake equally good loaves of sourdough using store brand flour.
Instead of a contest they should have supported equipping commercial bakery spaces locals can use in the opportunity zones set up under President Trump. A contest is a publicity stunt. Providing a place to develop a recipe is a true investment in economically challenged communities.
And, it should have been done more humbly, listing this organization among the other charitable organizations King Arthur supports.
Which company has cheaper organic unbleached unbromated flour? We were getting ours in 50lb bags at the restaurant supply store, less than a dollar a pound.
I just bought special flour for pizza dough from them. Darn it. At least they don’t use king Arthur’s picture on the bag or they would have to remove him.
They don't remove white people images, only people of color images. Uncle Ben AND Aunt J were POC.
Give it time, someone will make the claim that King Arthur was real, and was black. Then the BBC will produce a miniseries casting a bunch of pakis as the knights of the round table.
And anyone who dares to notice -- let alone actually objects -- will be smeared as a Racist Bigot.
They already did this, casting a black woman as Guinevere: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merlin_(2008_TV_series)
I know fren I was being snarky
Thanks for the info. I just requested they stop sending me their catalogue.
King Arthur was... checks my notes.. White.
And here's who plays young Arthur on Netflix : https://www.imdb.com/name/nm6863919/?ref_=tt_cl_t_2
You don't have to click it. His name is Devon Terell.
time to do a white Malcolm X or MLK
Uhhh... So, then, "inclusion" means "exclusion." OK, sure. I get it.
Just in: King Arthur bans white flour.
Damn. That was my go to flour brand. Moving on ....
My cooking blogger friend sent this: "You can get off your DEI high horse and stop being so racist. I am a person of color, though my mother is white, and your 10K bakeoff BS with NO WHITES has me tossing every 5 lb bag of KAF that I have, and that's about $300 worth. Shame on you for exploiting PEOPLE OF COLOR (that's me) for "brownie points for white owned businesses". You are killing MY COUNTRY."
Aww, I liked them too. 🤷♂️
Well, There is SOOOOO much pressure. They were probably told they wouldn't get that bank loan, etc etc....
I posted an Article and TSearch did also. 😃
hey Keep me on my toes.... 😃
Meh, I've used it a few times, it's a decent flour, but seven dollars for King Arthur bread flour is pretty steep.
I almost bought one of their sourdough jars but again $50 is high.
If I need some custom ground flour either my Grainmaker or my Italian flour/flaker mill can make it for me
Well, they are based in Vermont. This shouldn't be too much of a shocker. This state is a lost cause.
Ethnic replacement.
Now where's the receipt for the small bag I have, maybe there's still time to return it.
I checked their website & they removed it. Doesn't matter though, won't buy from them again.
