Being a parasite is a requirement for career politicians. It is the one definitive trait every one of them shares.

Politics is supposed to be where good men can serve their community and their nation. It is a short term job, similar to a community service. It used to be like that once upon a time, and George Washington tried to set the tone by leaving after two terms in office.

But gradually over time, they remained longer and longer, voting themselves hefty raises and making it standard procedure to enrich themselves by selling their office and acting on insider information. They became fat on the pork they served us as legislation.

Political ambition is an idea that runs counter to the ideal of Liberty. You should aspire to politics only through altruism. I know that is unrealistic but it is our job to make it as real as possible at the ballot box. But there we became lazy. We also grew fat on the government teat, through entitlements or through government contracts or through pensions and perks we didnt deserve.

I dont know how you get out of something that human nature makes an inevitablity. But that is the endpoint where satan is truly defeated.
