"You didn't fill out this ballot in exactly the right way, so even though you thought you voted Trump/MAGA we adjudicated and ensured your vote was properly counted for who we intend to select.
I’ve been checking IDs here in NC so far during early voting here in NC. They have to have a photo on them.
We check photo and expiration dates. However if a person is older than 65 and has an expired license it can still be used as long as it expired after they turned 65. Any government employee or military ID with the exception of our county (they opted out) can also be used. Federal IDs CAN be expired.
Mostly they have been driver’s licenses but I did get a Federal government ID (expired) but can still be used. I knew the person.
There is no need to check these online. If a person’s ID is not up to snuff we can offer them a provisional ballot or they can opt to go home and get one that is. . Our County Board of Elections has both Republicans and Democrats who decide if a provisional ballot will be accepted.
How would that do anything? They are still voting they are just being put in the bins instead of the tabulators. That is so they can go to "Adjudication" where they can make the vote whatever they want.
If it was the voter rolls nobody would still be voting. But they are. This is an adjudication ploy so they can make the vote whatever they want. Weve seen this countless times.
If the equipment is what is indicated in the picture (DS200 from ESS systems), a system we use and I've been trained on, the ballots for early voting would be printed in a digital form and hence not subject to adjudication. There is no bubble to interpret in the early voting systems.
What I suspect happened is a tabulator malfunctioned and the Internet is in fact still online (hence why they are able to checkin and still vote).
At any rate, this is all lousy, second-hand info, but based on my experience with the systems I suspect malfunctioning tabulator and miscommunication from election staff.
My guess is it was the voter roll system. Probably internet dependent...
Good instinct.
Unlike what the tweet claims, voting is not suspended. Affected voters are having the votes set aside. Which means they can be counted late
These seems in line with voter verification not the voting itself.
My research shows SC requires an ID.

They may need to check if it's a valid ID and this may need to connect with the DMV or some other system
Sounds like Maricopa co in 2022, “we’ll just set your ballots aside and process them later”.

There is no need to check any ID online.

Provisional ballots seem to be what is happening here.
But we don't even have the full broadcast to asses what she reported.
“Set aside” still leaves time for shenanigans to happen.
It's also standard procedure.
We have this report which only shows the end of a story, but I'm not hearing any instance of voting being suspended.
Thanks for your post.

The voter roll/checkin systems are definitely internet dependent.
