Someone's still going to have to comb through these every single time.
I'm really against the need for AI to read long bills. If they're that long they shouldn't be voted on at all. If the average person can't read them in full in an hour or so it shouldn't be even brought up for debate.
I could see this opening the door to massive bills that AI reads and summarizes into a few hours of reading.. but it skips key pieces (either programmed after elon dies, programmed without his knowledge to skip), and everyone votes on the bill that has a clause 'everyone will willfully be enslaved when this is passed'
I completely agree. No more omnibus bills where the entire kitchen sink is thrown in. No more Continuing Resolutions either.
All of us have to figure out how to pay our bills on time. All of us have to budget and save accordingly. Our reps are supposed to represent us. Time to act as we do.
Bills should be itemized with simple up down votes.
I know I am barking at the wind. But just wanted to say it.
If I had the money, I would send 535 quills and ink pots to Congress and then to our state houses as well. Bills should be written with a quill so the temptation of producing verbal diarrhea via word processing is discouraged. It was good enough for our founding fathers. Ergo, it is good enough for our representatives today.
Also, their pay should come from their state not a federal paymaster. They should have whatever their state decides to give them like every other state employee. Then they won't be able to vote.their own pay raises.
That's the problem. We should be able to blindly trust AI, because it's logic based. However, as we've seen the programmers of AI are more than happy to program bias in, we can't trust AI at all. It's a real shame. I use AI, and it gives me code well enough. I test it. But i don't trust it for other things, and have to double check to see if it's lying to me.
Trust because it is logic based? OMG, no, that is how you get a dystopian future. Logic is great but it is also inhuman if it is used exclusively for all decision making. Logically many activities people enjoy should be eliminated. Logically many people should be eliminated.
I see your point, anon, but i wasn't really aiming for that, but more of pure logic away from human programmers injecting their twisted logic like a man can be a woman, etc.
That's just a different degree of bad, though. You should be able to judge bills by the content, and deciding to judge based on title is just another form of blind trust.
Good points. I cannot believe that this utter bullshit of voting on two questions at once is allowed, let alone hundreds of points and questions at once. It's outrageous and should not be tolerated.
AI might be somewhat helpful here and I'm glad Elon is at least attempting to do some good here; but you're right, these programs cannot be trusted. They DO make shit up because they don't know the difference between fact and fiction. If nothing else, no one should ever, ever use it to get medical information. Again: It Makes Shit Up.
I'm just going to say: Don't blindly trust it

These bills should be limited to 1500 words. The length of an upper level essay amd no legalese should be allowed.

Typical 4th grade reading level is another great reason for what SOGWAP recommends.
True indeed.

While your at it frenβ¦make congress return to their States via Horse and buggy. Would love to see Pelosi after a trip like thatππππ
Be nice to see her take a trip through the Donner Pass this weekend.
Agree.. but do the younger members know cursive?
When the internet goes down, they will have time to learn!
Definitely NOT! No-one even attempted to teach my grandkids cursive - that was too big of a mystery to be decoded.

If any bill is more complicated to read than the Constitution then it should be thrown out immediately.
If it is at least most Americans can read it and say hell no.
1 issue, 1 bill
I'm all for this. Do any of us, at this point, blindly trust? If the AI points out something we can read it ourselves.
Right now I judge by the bill's title. If it says one thing, it means the opposite.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Nobody should blindly trust anybody or anything. You have a brain for a reason.
As for coding. Only a human can write elegant code.
:) yeah i agree with you, but for coding it sure helps cut down a lot of time in places.. i generally get the code and make it nicer
Kind of like the news. Whatever "they" say, the opposite is much closer to the truth!
I.e. Inflation Reduction Act. πππ

It's going to be the Battle of the Bots.
One side's AI will draft massive bills.
The other side's AI will counter argue the bill.
The amount will be so overwhelming that we "humans" can't keep up.
It will be Bots vs Bots.
And then, at some point all hell is going to break loose and an AI code will deem it necessary to remove the opposition and Terminator is here.
And... what if the AI is able to insert stuff to benefit someone, or to benefit itself?
