. . . and remember, Juliet is supposed to be so beautiful and lovely a girl that Romeo can't stand to live without her. That makes this twice as funny! 🤣
In response to your question "thinking that there is a sleeper White Hat writer trying to wake people up"...I, actually do think this on a daily basis these days.
Everything is just too absurd to not think that much of it is written to "jar" people to wake up.
Yes, they really were, especially for the time. The actress Olivia Hussey was only 15 and the actor playing Romeo was only 16 in real life. (No 25-year-olds playing the parts of young teens like today).
Olivia needed no makeup and was as fresh and beautiful as one could find at that time, in my estimation.
Yes, in fair Verona, the young Capulet aristocratic ingenue would have surely been black as the ace of spades, thick-lipped and with hair in cornrows… As bombastic as Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 production was, it had gorgeous visuals and was wonderfully romantic. I can only imagine how utterly insufferable a “woke” version of Shakespeare’s classic would be… Hollywood is DEAD!
To your question....Yes. Hollywood is in business to make money, and they aren't making any, yet still coming out with the same BS again and again. At the very least, something strange is going on.
"This thrilling and lyrical retelling of Othello, with Francesca Amewudah-Rivers in the title role, sees the National Youth Theatre REP company explore themes of love, jealousy, systemic racism and misogyny through the lens of crime and power."
"Set against the early 90s rave scene with electrifying music and movement Olivier Award-winning Director Miranda Cromwell... gets to the heart of the play in this abridgement by Dramatist Dzifa Benson."
(Note: Dzifa Benson is a Jamaican black member of the LGBTQ and Director Miranda Cromwell is a red-haired, blue-eyed half-black woman who only identifies as being black.)
"Working with the national youth theatre on their latest production of Othello. the combination of my life experiences as: a queer black woman who has worked in not only predominantly white spaces, but also male dominated fields, as well as my professional background in LGBTq+ inclusion set me up to guide the young cast in their character and performance development."
"I specifically supported Othello (Fran) as the lead, as well as working through the relationship with Othello & Desdemona, and spending time with the rest of the cast discussing topics such as race, lgbtq+ identities and the nightlife industry."
Truly despicable. Why is Tom Holland willing to put his name on this?
The very best cinematic duo playing Romeo and Juliet was this couple: Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting in the 1968 movie. See image below:

I agree, having seen this with my mom, at the theater when it came out.
Tom Holland is willing to put his name on this because he is part of the cabal.
Nooooooo! Hahahaha is this for reeeal?! 😂😂
Its totally real! 😂

I looked it up, because of the screen shot above. In every shot of this actress playing Juliet, I see a more masculine face than feminine. Sad.
Well, she is a lesbian, and appears to have strong masculine expressions and energy and (at least in photos) has a mustache.

I remember seeing this 1968 movie, probably at a later date than when it came out, and thinking the actors were very good looking.

Here's another photo of them:

So true...both were just fresh faced and very good looking for their ages. Not many at 15 or 16 can look this good going through puberty.
I probably saw it sometime in the 70's (not when it was filmed in the 60's) and I do remember it made an impression on me.

I support the parents to forbid it
This means Nancy Pelosi can play Cleopatra next, across from Brad Pitt I guess. 😂😂
The great Romeoplacement.

Watch out, Romeo! She’s planning to steal more than just your heart!
No.
I never think that.
Doesn’t it feel like Hollywood is being forced to destroy itself? I’ll bet they are part of the EO’s.
I was just thinking about the movie about poison with cure and vaccines…this morning
