I refuse to use the word "bodega". This is the United States. Most of us speak English, so lets use a word that doesn't have Spanish entomology and call them "convenience stores" instead.
Just be careful, because the wine bar crowd are the stupid white liberals that see their communities eaten by BLM and efforts to correct the lack of "diversity" and sexual identity propaganda in their public schools. The rot sets in pretty quickly.
Kay I’ll let you know if that ever happens. Probably won’t though. Other nearby neighborhoods have wine bars that have been around a LOT longer and if anything are nicer than where I live
Using Spanish language derived terms for things in this Country is usually indicative of living in a slum. Just like if you call your neighborhood a hood, you're either in a slum, or you belong in one.
Trump is going to win New York.

Not reaaaally an argument, unless your saying you want to strip english of any word that has a foreign origin?
That's a lot of the modern English that will be thrown out if you do though.
Certainly not, it's merely that certain words can carry a certain stigma. Especially when the word is more common to ghetto/slum/barrio locations.

Great. How do you feel about "patio"?
It doesn't have the slum connotation of bodega, but I still prefer I prefer courtyard, but I'm German so that might just bias.
Nah, I like bodega better.
Lets you know you're probably in a slum and to be careful =)
Sure doesn’t feel like it. My neighborhood is pretty excellent. New bakery’s and wine bars opening up

Today, I learned that New York has thousands of bodegas. Is the whole state a slum, then?
A bodega is a convenience store. Are convenience stores indicative of being in a slum?

Dude I live in a pretty nice area and we still call convenience stores bodegas. You probably gotta let go of your assumptions
NYC is the only area I've heard 'bodega' used.
I can’t see where they released the statement
It would be stunning of any residents still plan on voting for Biden
