I think it went well. It was expected to be a tough crowd, but Trump in his usual manner simply presented his case, described all the things he has done that were in line with Libertarian thinking. Then he logically suggested that Libertarians would do well to vote for him instead of spending their vote on a "more pure" Libertarian candidate, or nominate him AS the Libertarian candidate. I'd say a home run.
It was a rough crowd - mixed. Trump asked for their endorsement or if not, their votes. But there was a good amount of Trump support. It was definitely enemy territory.
When I was in the LP decades ago, it was mostly conservatives and free-marketeers. Then the anarchist element got in and pushy (Rothbardians) and basically poisoned the party against government per se. So, I expect Trump's detractors in the LP would have been fossil anarchists.
It was difficult. The crows was ... eh ... hard to reach.
But there is a practical top line: Keep your 3% and lose. OR ... go for the win, vote for Trump, or Nominate Trump your guy.
The issue I see, is that Libertarians are quite the ideologues in their own way. They do not have a clue as to how to go from situation A to situation desired, unless it is their big Sledgehammer way.
Ron Paul, whom I respect and admire, said 8 years ago, " from a libertarian standpoint, there is not an awful big difference between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Both are big .gov people.
From what I can observe, it is usually about this and that, but not about a gradual return. In a way, it is a sort of: I want it now, I want it all.
From Trump's point of view, there is something else: The Plan.
But, Facing a rowdy crowd tonight, was a nice touch. And, if Libertarians are really serious about what they stand for, then there is only one thing to do: nominate Trump and get in there.
Trump promised them spots to fill, so .... opportunities to be seized.

If Trump hadn't skipped over their chant to End the Fed they would have been much warmer. I guess it's too early to drop that bomb yet
He turned the boos into cheers by saying he would commute the sentence of Ross Ulbricht.
They are chanting we want Trump.
I thought they said End The Fed
I'm traveling, how is he being received there?

No need for that.

They seemed to come around more at the end....who is this ross dude they want pardoned?
Ross Ulbricht Created and ran the Silk Road on the dark web. He was sentenced to life in prison in 2015. Trump promised to commute his sentence.
He was the Silk Road guy who got arrested for all kinds of stuff.
And Trump wants to pardon him why?
dunno
