After so many people posted about how the Linus Pauling therapy to 100% clean out arteries in weeks via vitamin C and lysine helped them with chest pains and cardiovascular endurance, I wanted to offer another anecdote.
As a daily cigar smoker, after a week of taking either of these (cheap/common) amino acid supplements, I wasn't able to take more than a few puffs of a cigar without being disgusted. Once I quit taking them, I could finally smoke an entire cigar again after a few days off the supplements.
A close friend of mine who smokes cigarettes had the exact same experience. Tons of half-smoked cigarettes in his ashtray.
Some people want to quit.
Some people see no reason to.
If you are in the former, the info is here for you to try for yourself.
Acetyl-L-Carnitine
N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC)
The below is from WebMD. An interesting part to know is that it insinuates NAC it's a pharmaceutical "approved drug." This is a lie. It was always a supplement. ("Amino acids" are just parts of proteins. Naturally occurring. Abundant in carnivore diet. Many made in your body.) After they realized it dissolved Graphene Oxide and denatured Spike Protein in vivo -that is inside of a living organism,- the Food & Death Administration granted it 'drug status' and banned its sale briefly in 2022. This ban was reversed and it can again be bought where other supplements are sold.
WebMD = truth mixed with disinformation.
From WebMD
"Acetyl-L-carnitine is sometimes used for Alzheimer disease, improving memory and thinking skills, treating symptoms of depression, and reducing nerve pain in people with diabetes. It is used for many other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support many of these uses."
From WebMD
"N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) comes from the amino acid L-cysteine. Amino acids are building blocks of proteins. NAC has many uses and is an FDA approved drug. N-acetyl cysteine is an antioxidant that might play a role in preventing cancer. As a drug, it's used by healthcare providers to treat acetaminophen (Tylenol) poisoning. It works by binding the poisonous forms of acetaminophen that are formed in the liver. People commonly use N-acetyl cysteine for cough and other lung conditions. It is also used for flu, dry eye, and many other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support many of these uses. There is also no good evidence to support using N-acetyl cysteine for COVID-19. Although many dietary supplement products contain N-acetyl cysteine, the US FDA has stated that it's illegal for dietary supplements to contain N-acetyl cysteine since it's technically an approved drug. But as of August 2022, the FDA is considering changing this stance. It may allow for N-acetyl cysteine in dietary supplements as long as no safety issues come up. A final decision is pending. Prescription N-acetyl cysteine products are available under the guidance of a healthcare provider."

This may sound weird. One thing that really helps with quitting smoking or drinking is do not tell anyone you have quit, just quit. Not announcing it takes a lot of pressure off of you. Not only that, if you cheat, you are only cheating yourself. For some reason, cheating yourself hits harder. Btw, I was a raging (not mean) drunk for 20 years straight. I quit cold turkey. July 1st will be 12 years.
The best to quit anything is -quit- I have personally quit cold turkey many habits minus one.
Coffee
Sugar I said one day I quit and that was it. Drinking same and smoking same.
We are in the decades ago now for smoking and drinking and years for sugar.
If you are here in this board I have faith in your ability to do anything :)
I’m literally excited to try this. Been smoking for YEARS and badly want to quit! Thank you!!
I will also vouch for the book Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking that u/buttwipe mentioned.
It's a small 100-pager and it worked like a software patch. I read it in 5 days and was a non smoker as of day 6 and have been nicotine-free ever since, and that was in 2003.
Give it a shot! It's worth it.
ETA: you can smoke while you read the book, you won't have to give up booze, you can still hang out with your smoking buddies, you won't need to get special gum or hypnosis, and you won't crave smokes.
Thank you, I’ll take a look.
Is there a specific dosage to follow? Or anything else like "on an empty stomach", etc? I literally have both of these in my shopping cart to give to my husband.
Just go by whatever the directions are. As with all amino acids, which are proteins constituents/building blocks, It's probably a bit more absorbable if there's no protein in your stomach for the previous two hours or the next hour after taking it.
I started smoking again during Covid. I have no idea why now as I absolutely hate it, the smell, the ridiculous butts… I’m gonna try this and report back.
Does it work on chocolate? Haha! This is great info though. Thank you for sharing.

I quit the Acety-L-Carnitine because I like cigars too much and everything went back to normal in a few days. The effect is real.
Thank you OP for more great information. I started the vitamin C and L-Lysine regiment this morning. On the NAC I also found a list of benefits:
https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/nac-benefits
If read correctly, it thins your blood. For me, that be a good thing as I hope reduce/eliminate the poison blood thinners I have taken over 10 years.

Does it work on vapes?
That's a great question and the answer is I have no idea. But because cigar smoke is not inhaled, and it is the nicotine that you were mostly getting from the cigar, I think it's safe to say "maybe."
No. And I doubt it does the trick on the stinkies... I vape, and I take both supplements daily + BCAAs and other amino acids.
Thanks.
Vapes are safe provided that you don't add "flavor" chemicals. The nicotine and glycerine won't harm you.
Thanks, I'll tell my nearest and dearest who thinks natural flavours are just that.
Thanks so much for this information, John! I've been thinking about quitting but refuse to take the pill, Chantix. My mother took it and she went through a permanent crazy personality change. We had always been very close but after taking the pill, she began to dislike me. When she died, I know she did not love me anymore.
A few months ago, I stopped for a month. I will never take Chantix. Hoping John's info on the supplements will help.
these are also just super healthy supplements to take for any variety of reasons
Exactly. This is why I was taking them. And because I heard they were putting graphene oxide in meat, hence the NAC.
The fortunate/unfortunate side effect was that nicotine became revolting after a few days for both myself and a friend.
I heard a podcast that talked about people stopping lifetime addictions by being on an actual nutritious diet.
People experienced satiety for the first time and their bodies weren’t craving “something”
People like you are what this world needs more of. God bless you and your family brother.
I don’t need it but I know some that do ,, this is a blessing , thank you !
NAC resolved this weird issue with chest tightness I've had for years. I've thrown every supplement and diet at it and could never get any changes until I started taking 900mg of Pure Encapsulations NAC once a day and I get 0 tightness now
No idea what the problem was or why NAC heals it but there you go. Went to doc twice and they couldn't figure it out
From u/What-Me-Worry talking to me on a different thread re: his chest tightness the other day:
He's referring to a post I wrote several weeks back. Here is the title and link.
"My personal story on how I 100% cleared out my father-in-law's arteries in 4-weeks. His scheduled Heart Stent procedure: Cancelled."

Glad to hear your chest tightness is gone. Maybe this would help get to the root of the problem by clearing things out gently while NAC mildly thins the blood.

NAC daily 600mg. Helps me a lot
Serious question...would it work on smokeless tobacco? Been dippin snuff for over 50 years. At this point, I'm wondering if it's a chemical addiction that's incurable.
Find a $10 bottle of Acety-L-carnitine and take it as directed on the bottle. You'll know within a few days, and it's good for you anyway (brain fog, mitochondrial support, focus).
