Yes, sadly many priests and clergy do not believe certain parts of the Bible. They will face judgement by the Lord. His Word is infallible and is NOT subject to additions or deletions.
God has laid out what it takes to be saved. If people have not confessed with their mouth that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died for their sins, or have not believed on Him in their heart for their salvation or have not repented (turned from sin) and fully trusted Him, then they have not been saved according to the Bible. Those are God's words not my words.

God abhors sin - always has and always will. He is able to forgive any and all sin but He is not able to go against His Word. Mark 14:43-52 Is pretty clear on what happened.. the soldiers came to arrest Jesus and the people there all fled. It's likely a soldier tried to grab this person to stop them from escaping, but only grabbed their garment and the person escaped naked as a result (desiring to escape naked instead of getting caught).

They are a microcosm example for the rest of us. The study of God’s Word through Scripture allows us to have an intimate relationship with our Father in Heaven. The Israelites were not special at all. They are like the rest of us. God could have chosen any group of people for His will.
