Even hardcore demonrat loyalists are going to gag at the sight of The Party thrashing around and grabbing a replacement from a short list of unknown quantities and unpopular nonentities at the last minute. At the very least, it would (rightly) be perceived as a sign of disorganization and weakness.
At worst, voters would say "This is the party that gave us four years of this incompetent weakling and held him up as a shining example while the country spiralled down the drain? Why the hell should any of their fresh picks look any more encouraging?"

I've said it many times over the last year or more that Biden is unlikely to be the DNC choice for a candidate.
My guess back in the day was Gavin Newsom, others claim Michael Robinson, AKA Michelle Obama, but I think that is unlikely.
All I know is if the DNC does not pull a rabbit out of their hat ... even 10 million fake votes won't save them.
They are already throwing out the idea that the DNC has the authority to choose the candidate without a convention. In Daily's Chicago no less.
