I remember when Duke Bought one of the three power companies in the Orlando area. They fired a lot of longtime linemen in favor of using more subcontract labor.
What states have Duke Energy?
Duke Energy, a Fortune 150 company headquartered in Charlotte, N.C., is one of America's largest energy holding companies. Our electric utilities serve 8.2 million customers in North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky, and collectively own 50,000 megawatts of energy capacity.
Only thing I see of Duke Energy in Hawaii is they collaborated with BYU Hawaii to do some campus wide green energy project.
I have seen tollgrade devices in downtown hendersonville so they're engaged in energy surveillance, tracking-tracing and energy analytics
tollgrade devices are little gray things that sit on top of the wires and send data that it scans over the wires to cellphone towers, it's literally a surveillance data logger. They say it's to detect outages and report them, but it also has the ability to narc out clients using lots of energy and when combined with smart meters data and smart appliances will be able to figure out which electronic appliances people are using in their homes. There is an anergy company in colorado called e source that does energy analytics--they want to position themselves to be the data broker for the global social credit carbon trade scoring system
If the reservoir is already near full and a storm is predicted they'll lower the pool to accommodate the inflow. But if more water falls then they predict they have two choices:
release as much water needed to prevent overtopping.
allow overtopping and severely damage the power plant and possibly lead to severe structural damage and possible failure.
They'd rather retain as much water as possible and flow it through the turbines. That's how they make money. When it goes through the spill gates it's the same as pouring out money.
I live in Western NC and have Duke Energy as my supplier, nothing but good things to say about them. Reliable energy and fast responses to outages, which are VERY infrequent.
That looked like the Cowen's Ford dam at the bottom of Lake Norman, the biggest lake in NC. They had 1/11 sluices partially opened. The lake rose 4'. They lost some houses in Mountain Island below the dam but damage was mitigated from the flow of the Catawba. A nuke plant is located on the lake.
There are no dams up stream of Asheville on the French Broad River or the Swannanoa River. A few lakes east of Asheville are Duke. No flooding below. Lakes up in Mountains west of Asheville are TVA. Lake Lure is a private lake owned by the town.
Them darn Duke brothers! Wait, was that Dukes of Hazzyard or Trading Places? Seriously though, Duke owns the largest lake in NC. They managed the water levels expertly, IMO, during the storm. HAd Lake Norman overtopped, the Huntersville nuclear reactor would have had problems. Minimal damage controlling the runoff. Duke controls the entire lake.
I hate Op posts like this. Just unsubstantiated conspiracy porn. Did they have to release the water or the damage would've burst? Just stupid shit to get clicks. Prove me wrong OP.

Citation needed on Duke Energy owning any part of Hawaiian Electric.
I can't find anything about that...
they are idiots tho.
Any sauce that the dam water was released beyond the normal operations?
Not really preparing adequately https://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/local/article293319479.html

No major dam breaks here.
It has taken a few years but I feel like I'm becoming programmed to completely ignore any BREAKING NEWS posts.

Cowen's Ford Dam
Thanks. Got the name wrong.
Gotcha, I'm from N.C. also. 👍
We just moved here a couple of years ago after decades in DC. What a refreshing change other than the damage to the west of us.
Oh wow I bet so. Welcome fren 👍
COME ON MAN You’re going to believe your eyes or Harris? Anyone who has a Harris sign in their yard should get a illegal invader family sent to them
What does blackrock not own? I think they have majority stake in everything!
Duke and Duke. Always messing with peoples lives, but wasn't it the orange crop that did them in in the end?
I thought this video was relevant.

this prophet basically said the government is going to try and take over the land.
Central Florida Anon here... Duke runs the electric grid where I live. That's why I have 2 generators and 80+ gallons of gasoline to run them.
