Not true. Almost 40 years ago that McDonald's job paid for a semester of college. I had never had a job other than babysitting as a teenager. I was pretty naive and sheltered. So after my mom informed me she "wasn't paying for grades like that" . I also had to pay for the credit card that I was handed at the University....pretty fortunate minimum wage used to pay for a lot back then.
Lower middle class kids worked fast food to earn money for college or their first car. Kamambla was raised upper middle so she probably never babysat or mowed lawns much less worked fast food.

Nah. It doesn't affect me (eye of the beholder and all of that). I'm proud of what I do and defend my profession frequently and , if the need arises, using ruthless sarcasm. The line I used in the post was something my chef once told me (paraphrased), and it stuck with me since those early days. I just feel for those who do let it bother them, and defend them as well. I worked at Mickey D's in high school. It was great money for a 16 y/o...minimum wage back then was $3.35 an hour.

The majority of those jobs used to be for high school seniors and young college students. Only the owner and manager(s) were older than college age.
Working at McDs was never intended to be a career….it was for pocket money and saving for college.
