They do. Advertisers pay based on eyeballs seeing the ads. Long ago I dated a gal that sold advertising space for a paper. Beside circulation it was also based on the page, size and placement. It is also a whole new animal today. It is a science.
This country has a little over 300M residents. WaPo has around 1M internet subscribers. So only 1 in 300 folks in America read the WaPo on a regular basis. That right there is very telling about how Americans get their news and average information. I bet more eyes are on Xbox's and Playstation's than the WaPo. So how can the WaPo even try to be relevant in today's world? They ought to close shop and bury their legacy deep under a pile of cow manure because that is where it needs to be. They cannot inform the American citizens with fair and balanced news so why are they even trying? Just go away and let some other type of journalism replace your poor dying bones.
Imagine that people think Big Media make their money on subscriptions, kek.

1 in 300 pay for that? That is concerning.
Bezos didn't buy it to make money.
"I thought it'd be fun to own a newspaper."
So, 200k people are mad that the media didn't tell them who to vote for?
Theyre killing their own voices. For the wrong reason but they're doing it.
That's one way to clean out the commie swamp without sevrerance pay
This is outstanding that the number is so small. Makes ne think we are closer to 4-6 percent not waking up.
It actually surprised me that there are still over 200K subscribers who care enough to make this gesture.
